NH vehicle registration

Hey, I'm a new resident in NH! What's the process of transferring my registration from NY to NH? Does it cost a lot??

Registration in NH costs a lot, yes. While MA and most other states have the vehicle excise tax, NH just whacks you for registration but has no excise tax. So expect a significant payment when you do transfer it over.

Certain towns not listed here also allow registrations at the town clerk office. Best thing is to check w/ your town clerk.

My first vehicle registration for ~14 months was $1044. This year it dropped to $640 for 12 months.
It's based off vehicle value.

Yeah, like others have said... NH registration is based off your vehicle's value, much like excise tax is in places like MA.

the process for registering a car in nh goes like this...

1. go to town clerk
2. let them take you out back and kick you in the nuts
3. pray that you live in a town that will actually plow the roads( londonderry is the only one i can think of)

I live in Manchester and they have totally sucked at plowing this year. Not to mention the frost heaves this year suck just as bad.

I have to remember next time I go to city hall to re-register mine, I'll be wearing a cup. LMAO!

161$ for my 91' Toyota 4Runner, Bedford, NH.

+1 on not having to pay the IRS state tax quarterly. It will be a hard move when I finally relocate to Maine, that 8.5% tax is huge.
