bump. Is it ok to go with a staggered setup with x-drive? Thinking about purchasing some aftermarket 20s for the summer. Thanks

Yes. Just make sure the diameter of the tires are the same or very close. There are many web pages that offer wheel/tire calculators.

I've been waiting for my 550ix for 3 months now.
But, I wouldn't do that.

These days, AWD system is quite sensitive/fragile.
Staggered set-up will lead to difference in circumferences of front and rear wheels. That might be a stress to the xDrive system.

I've been driving Infiniti EX35. One day, my tire guy told me some folks had problem by installing same size tires with different treat pattern on their AWD Infinitis.

Interesting.. Had ran a staggered setup (21s w/ dunlop tires) on my e70 X5 last summer and never had a problem. In fact, it was bmws OEM setup for the e70. What would be the difference with the f10's xdrive?

The European xdrive model has staggered. The NA one does not.

It comes down to the factory spec programming on the (staggered vs non-staggered) tire setup.

After talking with the dealer about wheel sizes. If I was to get 20" wheels from the dealer for my 535 with xDrive, the wheels the would be staggered.

Front: 20x8.5 33mm
Rear: 20x9 40mm

Rear should be et 44. Not 40. Just for the record.

Variance not material enough to cause any fitment issue.

The All wheel drive systems in the BMW and Infiniti are very different. As for BMW there should be NO reason why you can't use a staggered set-up. As noted here other countries get staggered set-ups. And BMW uses staggered fitments on most of the XDrive "sport" packages, not sure why in the US they haven't on the F10. My 330xi came factory staggered and is to this day.
