Wink Went fraternizing with the enemy

Got to drive a C63 AMG for a photoshoot for an online magazine (www.autoeclectic.com). I was asked by the photog if I could "get it a little sideways for the camera, but no smoke please."

"Yeah, I think I can do that......."

There is a corner at this track known as the "Bowl". It's a big, banked, 180* corner with an apex speed of 70-80mph in a street car. The AMG happily went sideways all the way around, leaving a nice signature there:

I was blown away by this car. Having always considered myself a Bimmer guy I was not expecting to be impressed, but I thoroughly was. It handles great, with a little bit more understeer than an E90 M3, but definitely more sure-footed. The M3 feels sharp, pointy, and 'on edge', whereas the Benz is rock-solid planted whether you are putting in a hot lap or goofing off 45* sideways at 80mph leaving a giant smoke cloud behind you. It is a hooligan's dream car, begging to be driven sideways and making it easy. I have never driven a car that is so easy to drift. If this were my daily driver, I'd be arrested within 15 minutes of leaving the house in the morning. I hate to say it, but I think I like this AMG more than the M3 -- it is that good.

Thoughts? Am I disowned from E90Post for being in love with this car??

Numbers to numbers the M3 is a faster car but as OP and Top Gear pointed out, it's a fun, fun car:

You don't know how much it pains me to say this.

I drove the C63 AMG at the Cal Speedway infield course on the same day I drove an E92 M3 on the same course. I concur with the quoted statement. I liked the C63 AMG more than the E92 M3.

yeah i remember seeing that, but i wonder if they both had an equal, good set of rubber on, which would do better.
