How quickly did you change your OEM kidney grills?
I am wondering if people keep the OEM kidney grills on their E9x for long before they part ways.
I am kind of looking at purchasing used LCI OEM Chrome grills for my E90. I know black grills are for performance oriented look, but I kinda like the classy look that the chrome grills impart to the front. Personal choice I guess. Thought this may be interesting to know, if people do the switch. Don't flame. this may be a lame thread, but I have seen similar ones before. So I thought I will post. lol PS: Anyone selling their E90 LCI chrome OEM kidney grills, PM me

Didn't change mine out. With OEM wheels, I think the chrome looks fine on the LCI. There is no chrome anywhere else on the car, so it's still understated in my opinion.

But I can see there is a lot of interest in Matte Black grills all the time, esp with the AW E9x.

I had my car for about a week before I changed them. It was the first mod I did.

I went with matte black too but only cause I did matte black vinyl on the middle of the front bumper, hood, roof, and trunk and I also originally had matte black wheels. I would have gone chrome if Id gotten chrome wheels and not done the vinyl work.

was the first mod on my titanium silver - gives the car a more aggressive look IMO. Also deleting the front reflector. I hate amber in all forms

Have a black 2011 335i convertible. Got the black/chrome 335is grilles last month, kept them for about a day and changed back to OEM grille. To me, the nearly all black look, on a black car, killed the look. Much happier with the OEM grilles.
Its funny, because i thought i was gonna love the black grille surrounds. Was able to return them, so whole experiment cost about 45 dollars. Glad i did it because now i dont wonder anymore. Very easy to change. Takes five minutes once you know what you are doing, provided you have the right torx screwdriver. I think its a t-20. |

a week into owning the car, i caved in and ordered them from tischer. i ran the gloss black grills for a while and then took both sets apart and made "IS" grills- black ring with chrome slats. looks perfect with my CCA badge now.....

I've never minded nor really noticed the OEM grilles on my E92, they go with the space grey and are just enough of a silver accent to balance the silver window trim and (gasp) silver wheels. I never considered changing grilles on my white E46 vert either.
There aren't many E92s on the road up here and I can count on one hand the number of space gray coupes I've seen. I get compliments on mine in stock form even with the 17s/snows on. If I started doing things like black grilles, painted reflectors, etc... I'd probably be the only one to notice.

Has anyone put on the satin chrome grills? I've seen a few pics on m3post, but would love to see more (especially on black) (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7653831)
