Angel eye upgrades that don't get washed out in daylight?

So, I wanted to upgrade my Angel Eyes on my E92 pre LCI. But, most every upgrade I've seen does not work for me. While the white/blue/purple rings looks baddddd (as in hottttt/gooddddd :-)) at dusk/night, they look completely washed out in the daytime.

My question is this - are there LED bulb upgrades or anything else that will increase the intensity of my angel eyes while retaining the OEM ability to be highly visible in the daytime? Maybe some super bright yellow-ish LED bulbs?

LUX is the brightest LED upgrade....but it still gets washed out a bit.

I'm currently designing a set of angel eyes for my car with a 1000 lumen output rating compared to under 500lumens for LUX, weisslitch (Currently have these...actually one because my passenger side burnt out), PIAA, etc

I know the 6k color is similar to daylight so thats why they get washed out but I'm tested whether or not the the lumen output has anything to do with it....well see once I get my LEDs.

Not really looking to mass produce these. It is for myself but I can post up some info on my setup once I'm done.

If you're looking for AE's that don't get washed out in daylight - can't go any better than HID Angels from Alpine

HID is THE brightest in day, only other would be the OSS - but they are mucho $$ as they actually replace the halo rings and your headlights need to be cut apart and glued back together during the install.

HID's are simply H8 HID bulbs (you can pick different K (color)) that are essentially PnP with your factory H8 halogen bulbs and the special wiring harness/ballasts needed for the HID's

Alex @ Alpine has the nicest, most professionally done wiring harness out of the HID choices & has sold over 400 of his kits. No errors or flickering.

You can actually use the same HID's in your fogs at a later date to match the AE's if you want as they use the same bulb.

Noticed u have an e92. I would also suggest the HID kit for your angels. Your brightest option without going to OSS or LS3

My 8000K HID set is on order with Alex to replace my MTec 4750K.

I've had the Weisslicht LED's, GP Thunder II's, and the MTecs - gonna try the HID's in person.

If I don't like them in the AE's I can always swap them out in the fogs...

If you are looking for the brightest output, go with HIDs however I find them overly bright for this application. LEDs offer a better color but not as much light output as a hyperwhite bulb.

I think OS is the only viable option. It doesn't matter how bright you go.. the stock housings are just poorly designed and won't ever give you clearly evenly matched rings.

+1 Yes they will be brighter, but only on the inner ring. LED lights like LUX equalize the brightness between the inner and outer ring, whereas HID lights make the inner ring too bright and the outer ring not as brignt

I have Lux on my car. I think it looks pretty good in the daylight. They aren't as bright as the new 2011 E92s but almost there. I was watching my car approaching from over a block away and could make out the lights.

I will be testing and reviewing the City Visions soon!! from the previous reviews and comments, it looks like a good stepping stone towards the LUX unit in terms of price and brightness.

Maybe you could explain how this could be?

The factory halogen bulb throws out light 360 degrees, the HID bulb throws out light 360 degrees, from the look of the LUX H8 - by the placement of the LED's around the entire stem - it also throw out light 360 degrees.

As we all know the inner ring gets direct light and outer gets light from plastic lite pipe indirectly. If you are using ANY kind of bulb/LED that throws off light 360 degrees - the effect will always be inner ring briter than outer.

So I don't see how the LUX LED design does anything to improve on equalization of outer ring to inner ring brightness over factory halogen or HID?

About the only lights that may correct this to some extent are the LED versions that have the LED's 'aimed' to line up with the light pipe for outer ring such as the Weisslight version.

And BTW, I had a set of Weisslichts and they weren't that much more impressive on the outer ring either. I's simply impossible the way the AE's are designed to get equal lighting on both inner/outer.

The lux h8s have leds aimed right at the rings...this way you get equal brightness in both inner and outer rings. In addition the LEDs he uses provide significantly higher output than some of the kits ive installed.

He has an 'OSS killer' design that he did himself, but i think he only will do it for locals...but i could be wrong.

I installed lux on my e92 and although I am very satisfied, the inner and outer rings are not "equal."

Thank you - that is the only point I was trying to make. Unless you are getting OSS there is no way for any 'bulb' to make the inner & outer rings of equal brightness, so there is no need to make such claims.

I too like the look of the LUX H8's, and it may be the next AE I try (been thru 3 others & on my 4th), but I am fully aware that the ring lighting will not be equal
