Rear side windows dont open?

Did you guys even notice that those little back windows dont open? why wouldnt they add that feature to the E92? i love those windows on my E46 the way they just open up slowly with a push of a button.

Non venting rear windows allows them to make the window a structural component, thereby increasing torsional rigidity.

yeah, I agree... too much for BMW engineers, they had to stop somewhere (the robot arms just wiped them out, no energy or design funds left to engineer back window motors)

They do not open on the 335i? And you can tell this on E92 M3 mules because there is no round metal cap/fastener on the rear window or just becuse 335i does not have them? If this is true too bad. Rear windows on E46 are cool. Certainly no deal breaker though. However.... if it does not have that darn little robot arm that hands one their seat belt... I AINT BUYING IT.

I don't see why they didn't make them open, I really like that feature on my E46. How much more structural rigidity could those small pieces of glass give? It's really the frame around the windows that gives the strength, not so much the glass itself, at least I would think so.

Thank you Dr. Seuss.

That sounds like a very smart answer.

You're incorrect. Best analogy I can make is this. Think of a screen door with an aluminum frame (the kind that you would put on the outside of a regular door) and then think of a similarly framed door with glass. Which one twists easier?

This is a gross oversimplification, but I think it illustrates my point.

Do you have a better example? Because the flaw in this one is that the frame of the car is 100,000x stronger in relation to the window then the frame of the screen door is to the storm glass, not to mention the ratio of surface area of the frame vs. the storm glass in a screen door vs. a little rear vent window in the back of a coupe.
