Do the 330i and 325i look identical?
If you put 330i wheels on a sport 325i with Angel eye xenon, and parked them side by side. Could you tell the difference? Anything other than the badge that sets them apart visually?
Not talking about the engines, or things you can't see...

There are other trim differences like the chrome around the side windows, sliver finisher rods on the lower front grilles, chrome vertical slats on the kidney grilles etc. Xenon lights were also standard on the 330i, so if the 325i wasn't fitted with the option it would be a giveaway.

I prefer the black trim around the windows and the black lower grills and black front kidneys that are on the 325...but yea with the right wheels (162's) i think, swap out the front grills and put a 330i badge on the back no one would even question it.

The window trim has nothing to do with it-330 sport has black trim and non sport chrome. Same with a 325-nothing to do with the model-its called shadowline trim that comes with a sports package or as option in europ alone

plus i have a 330 w/ sport package and it came with chrome trim the trim has to do with the level of car. The 335&330 both came with chrome as standard since they weren't the entry level car. Were as the 325&328 came with black to start off with. its one of those options that BMW i guess uses to let consumers know what level of car it is from the side profile. and naturally i think most people in the luxury market would say they would take chrome over a flat black. now since the models have matured there are more option when the cars are built. aka: shadowline trim and glossy black and so on |

09+ cars with sport package come with the shadowline window trim. Previous to this (both 330 & 335) the sport also had chrome. The shadowline is quite different from the standard black trim on the 325/328. It's glossy instead of matte black.

Don't put a 330 badge on your car....it's like putting an M on there.

The badge goes on only after the conversion has been completed
Complete Intake Manifold swap ordered, and software is next.

I'm a little confused...you seem to be going to an awful lot of trouble...wouldn't it have been easier to just sell the 325 and get a 330 instead? I'm not trying to rain on your parade or be a troll... I'm just seeking your motivation.

I can always tell by the roof rails. They are black (unpainted) on the 325/328 vs. painted 330/335
Unless the car is black of course.

I'm pretty sure the black roof rails come with the shadowline trim that comes with sport or m-sport package....one of those I think.

Why not?

Suppose I built a 3000 square foot house for $100,000, right next to your house that you could not build yourself, but purchased from another person for $200,000. Two identical houses in size and spec, but you paid more. We are even using the same appliances and fixtures. So don't be mad that you paid more, and we have the same thing. Thats a hater...

Its cheaper and more fun to MOD!
You can buy a 50k mile sport 325i for 17,000. To buy a 330i will cost you over $21,000. At least in my area. So that leaves me $4000 to play with. I can mod the heck out of it for 2-3,000. Gives me something to do, something to be proud of, because I made it, and its custom. Its a hobby. and its fun...

i dont really know if anyone is exactly correct about the shadowline option. bmw has been putting black trim on their sport package cars for a long time.
