Rear windscreen demister question...

Ladies/Gents,

Quick question, on an E92 how far up the the rear screen demister go?

Today I noticed that the top section of the rear screen did not clear in my car but it looks like there are desmister wires there. I happened to be at the dealers (getting a key-read/servicing quote) and a tech told me that the top section will not demist as the wires there form an anntena (I assume for the radio?).

Is this true? Or shoudl my rear screen demist all the way to the top?

TIA.

Thanks briers,

Next time you're in your motor could you check to see if it's just the top shaded part (it has a dotted pattern across it) of the screen?

It clearly looks like there are demister wires running through that area but they are either not connected, broken or the tech is telling the truth and they are not demister wires...

Sure mate i'll take a look and let you know

I know, just today i noticed it - it was literally the very top part in my rear view mirror. Like the top 5 or 10%... and just remembered, hard to tell on mine as it's factory tinted but i'll still look.

I raised this with my dealer when I bought the car and from memory the top two lines that look like demister elements are actually the aerial.

+1 - top few lines are the radio antenna - raised the same issue with my dealer when I had the E93 a few years ago.

Better than my tech's diagnosis a few years ago....

Q: My demister does not work properly -can you help?
A: What's wrong with it?
Q: Top few lines don't appear to be working.
A: OK book it in and we will sort.

Upon collection:
Q: Is it sorted?
A: Yes.
Q: So all the lines work now?
A: No
Q: Oh why not?
A: Not sure but we have tested 2 other E93's and they are the same so yours must be OK as they can't all be faulty.
