Save $160 and just get GP Thunder 7500K V2's! Only things worth it that are more expensive than GPT's are LUX and OSS but those are more than $175

why are GP Thunder like $20 bux? they are just bulbs that change the rings colors?

But buying alpines or camaross or bms are HID kits? so they are brighter?

Do I have that right?

GP Thunders are just bulbs, hence ~$20

Camaross comes in a HID kit, so the light is a lot brighter than a bulb.

The inherent issue of just changing the bulbs, and not putting a new LED ring on, is that your inner ring will always be brighter than the outer.

For your price range, a HID kit would be the brightest, but if you are on a budget, you may find a 'bulb' replacement such as GP Thunders or MTec, will suffice.

Thank you for your reply that's what I thought.

Mtec offers an HID kit? If so any links/price?

Also, the others camaross and alpine I already see are in the price range.

Theres tradeoffs as to which is better..

HID are extremely bright and are visible in direct sunlight.. in the dark however the rings are too bright to the point where the halos are indistinguishable.. basically just looks like a blob of light.

LED's are not as visible in direct sunlight.. probably the best of them being comparable to stock bulbs. In the dark however, you can make out that they are rings.

LEDs also costs more than an HID kit.. but some HID kits require that you drill a hole in the cap.. Probably get more accurate info with search.

Ok. This may be a dumb question but why would you want your AEs to be visible in the sunlight? Or is that just a personal thing.

And i've seen some of the HID kits, it does look like a blob of light at night, not appealing to me.

probably just a personal thing..

its like asking why would you want your halos on in the night? You already have the xenons working for you :P

.. my guess is its just a matter of WHEN you want them seen :P

Well, on my car the AE's are the running lights and on all the time when the car is running. To be able to see them well in the day looks

I'll soon find out how the HID's look as I just ordered a set of HID 8000K AE's from Alex @ Alpine.

I started with the Weislicht LED AE's - brighter than stock at nite, but barely briter than stock at day. Then one of them gave up the ghost shortly after install (under warranty) so I replaced them with MTec 4750K Cosmos Blue H8 Bulbs from E92-Lighting. I liked the slight blue tint to them but they were only slightly briter in day than stock (coulda been just more visible since the color was different) and kinda got washed out by the xenons at nite.

Alex said the 8000's would be similar to what I like - bright diamond white with a hint of light blue. He also stated that as long as the HID AE's aren't the same color (K) as the xenons - they will be distinguishable.

And BTW - the pricing on the Alpine HID Kit is under your budget of $175

Problem with lights that brite is that it is VERY hard to get an actual pic with a camera (shutter speed, etc.) and they will look blurred in a pic from straight on no matter what. So I'm gonna have to see for myself in person.

I've been told by several people that the HID AE's are the next best thing to the OSS, which is WAY more $$ and involves sending out your lights to have them cut open and modded.

I'll post my impressions after install. If I like them I will be installing them for the fogs also

You should definitely post up some pics of it once you get them installed Quik.

I was thinking about just getting bulbs but i'll just keep researching to see what I would really like.
