Air bag light oddity?
Is the "Air bag is off" light supposed to stay lit the WHOLE time you drive without a passenger?
When I turn on the car with no one else in it, the "air bag is off" light turns on for a little then turns off. I press down on the passenger seat and the light comes back on (simulating a car seat with a kid I guess). But when I stop putting pressure the light turns off again. Shouldn't the light stay on until someone of proper weight sits down in the passenger seat? I have an '08 328i btw. |

When you turn the car on, it does a "check" so the light comes on for a few and goes out. If it stays on, then you have a problem. The light as well as the airbag stay off when nobody is sitting in the seat. Why do you want another light on when you're driving?
It's all covered in the "controls" part of the owners manual.
