Blacked out finishing rods or painted?

I've got a Montego Blue 335 LCI now so I have the silver finishing rods. I can either buy the blacked out finishing rods or have them painted the same color as the body (going to do it myself). I'm getting my roof blacked out tomorrow with vinyl. Regardless, I ordered two of the black finishing rods from the dealership and I will either paint them body color (Montego Blue) or leave them black matte (or I could paint them glossy black). Anyone have any thoughts?

Black x2.

The body color rods will look out of place on your car, and detract from its appearance. Are you familiar with how to remove the existing rods?

Alright, what about matte black vs glossy black? I was thinking I could even wrap them in the same vinyl that I'm getting done for my roof? I was just thinking it'd be nice to distinguish it a bit from the 328's and give it a subtle contrast.

And yeah, I think I can figure out how to remove the rods from this DIY: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58978

However, I'll be using my own painting method (in my own DIY) to do the painting of the rods if I did go the painting route. I'd sand it down first, adhesion promoter, then primer, paint coat, and clear coat.

Once you get the current rods removed, my suggestion would be to play a little 'what if' by trying the different looks on the rods, and temporarily placing them on the bumper without inserting them all the way. I did this when I was deciding on my rods' appearance, and it helped me a great deal. I ended up going a different direction than I had planned, and it was because I could see how my original idea for the rods actually looked on the car, and it didn't look as good as my imagination had led me to believe. Good luck, it's fun to have choices!

Pull up and pull out, or grab a small screw driver and push on the tabs then pull. Work your way left to right or vice versa.

Decided to go with the matte black ones.

Also updated the DIY with a tip on how I got mine off: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28099

I used an old credit card and cut it up into strips. Then when I pried down, I pushed these in between. When it came to pulling it out, it was much easier to do and I didn't risk breaking any of the tabs.

CF?

Does anyone know if anyone sells CF rods....?

I could wrap them myself, but these things take a beating and I'm not sure the wrap would hold up.

I've had to repaint mine a few times due to chipping. The first time I didnt use the correct type of paint and they chipped like hell.
