Haha, I was just wondering yesterday if i could replace my fogs with the mercedes or porsche LED strips. Would be a nice touch, but I would think you need xenon's and white Angel Eyes to pull it off right...

i bought a set from philips who apparently make them for all the oem cars. problem i am having is that as soon as you open the door the lights come on as they are activated by a movement sensor, also there is a wire to connect to the sidelight to switch the drl off when the sidelights are on but with this connected the drl dont come on with the engine but when the sidelights are switched on and im wondering if has something to do with the drl halos. any ideas would be welcome or the fitting instructions for the bmw ones in this thread.

Dislike. If I wanted to look like one of those Benz or Audi cars I would have bought one. Silly things look like a Mag-light LED flashlight is attacking you on four wheels

Dislike x2. They don't give the appearance of being factory, look too appended on to me. The Mercedes factory LED's are appalling, hard to believe that Mercedes would add the hockey sticks to the E's and call it good.

Look like some cheap add on, given that this is from BMW stock.

As compared to the MB, the led light bar fills up the entire space.

i have been waiting for this to happen. just a matter of time. i don't see it as someone wanting to look like MB or Audi. It is just the quest for a brighter DRL. that is why there are so many of them out there. BMW realized this and now gives us brighter AE's. that is why those of us w/ pre LCI's go w/ Lux, OSS and such. so i understand going brighter, but the straight line LED's are not the signature of our cars. i.e. i will be keeping my car a BMW.

Especially if you could match the color of the strips to the color of the angel eyes...

+1. I love the ones on Audi and don't like the ones on MB. There is a Corolla that I see driving around sometimes and it has something similar to this. I don't know if it is factory or if the guy modified it because I've only seen one like it. It grabs my attention, but it doesn't look good. I really hope BMW doesn't make this standard.

Yes, I think its an eyesore that so many non-audi drivers are trying to mimic those audi DRLs. The other day I saw a chevy malibu with its headlights ridiculously outfitted with what looked like a string of LED rope looped around its edges. I really hope this trend dies out soon... Audi got it right, but no one else has.

BMW - AE, no LED.

Mercedes/Audi - No AE, LED.

This is like..Mercedes/Audi copying BMW's AE technology.

Period.

"Copying" technologies from other automakers is common. Have you seen other brands outside of BMWs, MBZ, and Audis? Volvo and Cadillacs use the same lighting technologies that BMW does, but that doesn't make them unoriginal.
