Certainly not necessary, but it's something to consider. I immediately decline any and all extras the dealer tries to offer (wheel/tire included), but it is the only one of the group that makes even a little sense to me. In the end, they wouldn't offer it if it didn't make them a load of cash. So I'd rather deal with a problem should one arise rather than pay in advance.

For wheel repair, try Rim Pro in Tewksbury or Rim and Wheel Works in Waltham. For tires, I go to a Town Fair Tire near my office. They do all the tire work for our company cars so we have a good relationship with them. Never a problem, so I trust them to do the work on my own cars too.

Eastside Motoring is another good one for mounting/balancing. I've had bad experiences with Rim and Wheel Works in Waltham and so have a few others. They used to be good but are on a steep decline in customer service.
