E92 AUC M3's for under £30k

Just noticed these below £30k for the first time on the BMW approved used site. Almost tempted, but not quite. Thats value if you can afford the running costs.

Tempting but I think the running costs (insurance mainly) and the potential for big bills when things go wrong would bury me.

M3 is a LOT more reliable than a 335i for sure!!

The insurance isn't actually 'that' much - I am 39 and pay £600 ish for the M3 which is pretty good really inc. all mods declared.

Less than £30k for an AUC is really good value - seen decent ones go for mid £20k's on ebay and autotrader - bargain machinery

The point is that if (more likely when) something does go pop it's likely to cost an arm and a leg (possibly a kidney too).

Having said that, the 335d/i are also going to be expensive to fix when something important goes.

Not necessarily, the BMW Extended Warranty should be considered essential (rather than optional) when you have such machines.

Personally, I'd love a saloon M3 - doubt I could afford one (and run it)

Maybe, but if you have a warranty on both, the M3 will cost you a LOT more.

M-servicing is almost double the cost.

There are plenty of late model M3's for well under £30k.. Prices have crashed because they simply are not selling.

I almost gave up looking for the right spec 335i. I was carless for five weeks. Did look at a couple of lovely M3's, but was put off by £435 road tax, group 20 insurance, sub 20 mpg and service costs.

Lucky for me I found the right 335i through the BMW dealer network 'eventually'

Doing some quick calcs on my M3 over my 335i during a year covering 10k, It works out a £1 per day extra running the M3 in petrol costs.

Please don't point out things like that ...... that black M3 is only about 2 miles from me, temptation so close is not a good thing!

Does seem suspiciously low for a fairly good spec & mileage.

Prices still quite a bit higher if your want the more desirable options (EDC, Individual or Logic 7 sound system etc)
