Navigation Errors

I have an 08 335i w/ iDrive

I'm getting an error more and more frequently from my Navigation System. It tells me it can't read the DVD. It is uaually solved by ejecting the DVD and then reinserting it, but that's a PITA, especially when it should be working smoothly.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have the same problem, it started when I upgraded to the shitty '10 maps. Never happens where I live, but happens when I travel.

I have the same problem as yours. Are you using copied navigation DVD (that is why it happens to me all the time, so I went back to old OEM navigation DVD).

I had the exact same problem with my OEM Navigation DVD.

Found a solution that 100% worked for me, and I'm sure would work again if I get the error again in the future.

1. Copied the contents of the original DVD to my computer (ISO format)
2. Burned the newly created ISO image to blank DVD at very low speed (2.4x) (This is to avoid write "errors" that cause the annoying read errors people complain about on burnt navigation discs).
3. Kept the ISO image file saved on hard drive if I ever need to burn another disc

As far as I know, this is 100% legal (DMCA) as you "own" the original Navigation DVD and are only making a backup for yourself. The disc does not contain any structural copy protection (If I remember correctly)

Feel free to PM me if you need more info on the process, or what software to use.
