E90 Halo Dimmer Circuit?
I am still messing around trying to get my HID's, Fogs and Halos to "match. It seems the HID's are definitely 6000K so installing a 6000K HID upgrade for foglights is pretty straightforward BUT, It appears that the halos actually dim whenever the HID main headlights turn on. I called a local BMW dealer service department and they think the halos simply dim due to the increased voltage draw from the HID's. This doesn't seem like something BMW would design into the new LCI e90's. Does anyone know more about whether there is an actual dimmer circuit? If so...I would assume it would be pretty hard to add LED upgrades.
PS going to install the ChipExpress US spec chip this weekend for the 335d. I'll post results when able. |

You could always wire the AEs directly to the battery and add a relay to turn them on as DRLs and with your headlights....how to wire that relay I'm not sure.
I'm currently researching an LED setup for my car because my passenger side LED went out. So look around the forum for my progress in a couple weeks. I'm waiting for some LEDs to arrive (900 lumens each!) so we'll see how it goes. |

Stock HIDs are around 4300-4350k. You can get halogen replacements to match the HIDs as well too - I got the Xenesis TruMatch for fogs and they are pretty spot-on. Also, several aftermarket LED halo upgrades don't dim when you turn on the headlights.
