I know 50% of the population don't vote but prisoners shouldn't have the choice either way, it just another stupid law from Europe telling us how to govern our country and saying we will have to pay compensation if we don't let them vote is just ridiculous.

Of course the inmates will vote.. They will do it just to spite you. Come on they don't have shit else to do. One pass time that inmates seem to enjoy in the US is fileing lawsuits and they sue everything and everyone that they can think of. So give them a chance to vote and they will have a freaking field day with that one.

They won't have time to vote breaking rocks with a toffee hammer for 12 hrs a day oh sorry going to the gym playing on the ps3 watching tv having 3hot meals a day no wonder it costs £40k per prisoner per year. Lock em in a room with a bucket for 23 hrs gov would save a packet rant over

I listened to 5 Live this morning and they were discussing this. Unfortunately this was passed 5 or 6 years ago, so fighting it now is a lost cause. They should just make it a postal ballot where all of the onus is on the inmate to register, pay for the stamp, find out who his candidates are and which constituency his vote needed to be counted towards - make them work for it and they wont be bothered. Dont give them the opportuinity and they WILL sue the Government for breach of their human rights

Watched "Coppers" last night and some scrote said he'd rather spend time in Jail than in a Police custody suite because "at least I'd be sat here watching Hollyoaks on my own TV with my own kettle - Jail isnt scary"

WTF?

About time we built more jails and made the "comforts" something they had to earn, rather than just given to all and sundry

You say jail is not scary! I bet you would not say that if you had to spend a month in one.

He didn't say it was not scary; the scrote that had been arrested said it.

Let em vote, and while they're at it, give them a day off to visit the polling station, then maybe, just maybe, the Pedo’s and rapists might get clubbed to death while out and about.

Jail = loss of key citizen Rights. Simple as.

So EU court can get stuffed. What they gonna do, pass a new motion to impose their view and violate out human rights?

If I were Prime Minister they would be allowed to vote, though it would be difficult without their hands. (Even more difficult for those that had been hung).
