Squeaking in Engine area while parked. Goes away after 15min
I have this squeaking sound "Squeak, squeak... squeak" in the Engine area on the left side. I hear the squeaking as soon as I start the 335i, the car does not have to be moving to hear the squeak.
I rev the engine and the squeak goes faster (while parked... or driving). After 15 minutes of driving the squeak disappears completely. It doesnt come back even if I shut off the car for 3 -4 hours. The squeak comes back after parking the car overnight... over 8 hours. I start the car... then squeak squeak..., then goes away after 15 minutes. Another user posted a video of his squeaking while driving and my squeaking sounds almost identical to his (he had brake issues), however he was driving, my squeak appears as soon as I start the car, I dont have to drive to hear it, and it goes away after 15 minutes. Any ideas? I took a video of it, will try and post to Youtube. I have an appt with the dealer but cant get in for a week. |

+1 Belts
Look at the edges and the inside of it and see if there is any (even the slightest) cracking of the rubber. Usually the outside still looks fine even if the inside is wasted. Also check to see if it is loose. If it looks ok,but is loose, then just tighten it back to spec.. |

had something similar in my e36. It turned out the alternator bearing shaft was starting to seize and the belt tensioner were about to go. after about 15 mins, the engine was fully warmed up and the squeaking stopped and the squeaking started again after the car was started several hours later. your car is pretty new, hopefully its just the belt tensioner.

Well, the squeaking has disappeared completely, doesn't matter if I park the car outside or inside for 8 hours, 24 hours, squeaking does not come back doesn't all.
Car runs fine, no error codes, performance of the Dinan is fine.... car runs smooth, no stutters... no squeaks nothing. The squeak hasnt come back for a couple of days now. |
