DIY - E92 Foglights

Not sure if this DIY was all ready done... if it has, I didnt find it, so here it goes. My goal is to replace my stock foglight bulbs with some bright white H8 bulbs I got from Hoen-USA.

Before (dirty cover, I know):

After (yeah, yeah... the cover is still dirty):

So first get below the front bumper and pretty much remove every screw in site (8mm socket). Mine might look a little different since I have the OEM aero kit on. Also note, 3 of the screws are holding a ruber piece on. Those are also removed.

Make sure the wheel is turned all the way out and in the wheel well remove the nut (10mm).

There are also 2 more 8mm screws further up in the wheel well, right behind that yellow reflector we all love so much. No picture of those...

After all those screws are removed, you can pull the cover off, enough to get your hand in to replace the bulb. You can see the bulb in the second picture below.

Notice there is a pin holding the bulb in. So you need to reach in and remove the connector BEFORE trying to remove the bulb. Pinching the bottom end of the plug will allow you to remove it. Once it's removed, you can turn the bulb to remove it and replace. Remember not to touch the bulb.

Just reverse the process to get everything back together.

I know the Hoens are whiter, but do they give you enough illumination as fog lights?

As far as illumination either way the fogs have a hard time aiding the all ready bright xeon's. But the hoen's appear to have the same brightness...

Even easier for 335i

Here's a pic of the right side fog on my 335i. Just remove the 4 screws of the oil cooler cover and reach in with your right hand twisted to replace the bulb.

What does "pretty much remove and screw in site" mean. I don't understand you. Did you mean pretty much remove every screw in sight?

Hey this is a little off but I just replaced the fogs in my 335i with a set of 3000k HID's. When the car is off they work fine but once the car is started they start to flicker and I get the foglight malfunction error. Do any of you know of a fix?

When I changed my fog light bulbs I did not remove the plug from the bulb first..All I did was turn it counter clockwise remove the bulb with the plug and wire still attached and then swap out the bulb.

Still a great DIY.

I will be removing my e92 kidney grills and painting them flat black hopefully this weekend and I will post a DIY with photos.

Great DIY, thanks! Worked just as you said, though I did it without removing the 10mm. 9 screws in all.

Very easy

Thanks for the visual. I only had to remove 3 x 8mm bolts front under the front part of the bumper (the 3 outer botls), and then the 2 x 8mm inner fender bolts. Pop the splash guard back and reach in there. Since I knew what to look for (from the picture above), it was very simple unplugging and changing the bulbs without having to look at it. Compared to changing a B7Audi A4 foglight bulb, it took about the same effort to change it but I had a lot more room to work with on the E92.

Only took me 10 min total for both sides
