Falken 542 / XL & Punctureseal
1. looking to swap the RFT's to Falken 452's but what are the XL ones?
link here: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...=m61b0s22p6220 do they protect the edge of the alloy rim more than normal 452's? (read somewhere on here that someone got 265/35/18 for the rear as 255/35/18 didnt seem wide enough for the alloy? 2. has anyone used Punctureseal in there tyres? http://www.punctureseal.com/ just wondered how much it costs, seems a good alternative. 3. anyone know the psi for the falkens, was thinking of getting some of these for the tyres...http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.a...essure-Monitor Last edited by snellfish; 10-22-2010 at 10:11 AM.. |

3. I run mine off the door jamb PSI. They are fine. 2. I have Puncturesafe. Cost me £40 for the 4 tyres from a mate of mine who has a garage. There are pros and cons however. Firstly, I had a puncture recently and the tyre deflated - fortunately, I was in a town and staggered to a tyre repair place - £10 and it was as good as new. The puncturesafe did not work on this occasion. The problem was said to be (by my mate) that when I picked up the nail, I stopped for half an hour for a meeting. When I came out, I pulled the nail out, from half way up the tyre, and it started to deflate. My mate reckons that the punturesafe will have run to the bottom of the tyre in the meantime and that if I was to have kept driving it would have worked. I will never know the answer to that. Also, this may be me, but I feel sure that the balance of the tyres is slightly affected. This is nothing major, just at times the steering wheel gets a slight "buzzing" feeling. If I turn the wheel slightly it goes. I have also read somewhere that this is a trait of the 452's tread pattern. |

My conti repair kit says drive for 12mins or something and recheck the pressure.
This is to distribute the sealer. Get a water soluable sealer and keep friends with your tyre shop. The Continental kit comes in many newer Ford cars, like Galaxy and S-Max etc. Take a look on eBay for owners flogging them, its universal and the pump part is VERY fast and good quality. Mine cost £25 delivered. Try a breakers yard for them too. The Falkens will come with a free lifetime guarantee too, thats a good selling point and many dont realise it.

When you get a busted tyre, they refund the cost pro-rata for the unused portion of tread.
If it can't be repaired. And its a free deal run by Falken through participating resellers. I did a track day at Castle Combe on the Falken 452 (19") today. In the dry they were better than expected, and didn't melt or bobble. Initially after a heavy shower I thought they were a bit loose in the wet, until everone else buggered off for coffee complaining it was a nighmare. Just the slippy track.... on road in torrential rain they are as good as oem IMO. Wear rate was good, no real visible sign of wear but I'll measure them tomorrow anyhow. I would definately buy them again. Steve
