How much are you paying for oil change @ dealer?
How much are all of you paying for "non-scheduled" dealer oil changes for your E90? What's the cheapest price?
I found an online coupon for $69 @ San Francisco BMW. Last edited by BMRu4ia; 09-14-2005 at 11:14 AM.. |

here in TX, voluntary oil change runs way over $100. rather do it myself. Just the parts for my e46 costs $95. |

Standard oil change with new filter is $99. The oil service, which includes microfilter and resetting the computer and I'm not sure what else costs $270. I asked my service rep what the first free scheduled one includes and he said it was an oil service, not just a change.
I have a lease and would like to buy it at the end, and I'm not sure about this 13-15k mile interval between oil changes. At least not the first one. |

It covers everything except tires and top-up oil. Anything breaks on the car during that time and its fixed for free But we pay a lot more than the USA for the base cars ( your 325i is about 60% of the cost of ours and better specced, eventhoug we build them here ) |

Fleet, I think what he needs to know is if you take your car in for a non scheudled oil change what would it cost. Do all oil changes under that maint agrrement cost nothing or just the scheduled ones.

The service guy quoted me $225 for a non-schedule oil change....blah...blah......blah!
so I just bought the oil filter and 7 quarts of oil for $62.......I'll do it myself! Is BMW service/maintenance always that expensive?

Did you guys that did the oil change have to make an appointment and leave the car at the dealership? Because I really don't want to waste time waiting a whole day for them to do an oil change, if it's relatively quick (under an hour) I wouldn't mind, otherwise I think I'll look into changing it myself.

I scheduled it and they said it would take about an hour but it ended up taking about 2 which was annoying. My next oil change should be the BMW recommended one, so I'll make an appointment well enough in advance and reserve a loaner car.

I am seriously considering an oil change around this time when I take my car in for a free 5000km check. I think I will get a quote first and try and bargain them down a bit because they will probably charge heavily, claiming the high cost of the oil.

Just asked my dealer other day this very question. Cost $75.00.
Most seem to think they should wait 15000 miles for free one. I have 4000 miles & think just the first oil change should be done now? Hate the tought of paying $49,000 & not springing for lousy $75.00. |

I didn't think an oil change would be that expensive! I think I'd rather just do it my self and save the cash. Where can you purchase the filter and oil? Do you need to buy the "BMW" oil?

Wow, you guys in the States get hosed on the oil change!
In Canada, it's only $87 Cdn. natalia, you can get the parts at the BMW parts counter. The BMW synthetic oil is around $5 US per litre and you need about 7 litres = $35 US. The filter package is around $10-15 US, so total parts = $45-50 US. Therefore, they only charge around $20-30 for labour, which is in line with their hourly charge.

Can someone explain to me in details regarding the difference between oil change and oil service? I am assuming they do more check up and stuff with oil service. It would be nice if someone knows exactly what they are doing with oil service as they are charging big $$$.

Time for a "self-service" I guess. Oil change is easy anyway.

If your information is valid and correct(not that im saying its not), $70~$80 makes perfect sense. I also plan on doing oil change once I hit 3~4k miles. Didn't know BMW maintence is that expensive. With my other cars, oil change was $19.99 at jiffy lube!
