Brake wear

Ok so I recently had my rear pads replaced under the maintenance plan... however the front pads state they dont need to be changed for 42,000 miles. The car already has about 43k miles. I asked the dealer if they had ever replaced the front pads (maybe when I came in for something else) but they said no.

So is it normal for the front pads to last that much longer than the rears? Usually the front pads go before the rears so I find this rather odd. Another thing I found amusing was the computer didnt say I needed the rears changed until now 43k miles later. However after they were replaced it now states they should be changed in 25k miles... hmmmm...

the sensor might not be reading right, check them yourself just to confirm they have some life left in them.

The default remaining service left by default is 120000km (72000 miles) front and 80000km (50000 miles) rear. I checked my 40000 miles and there is still plenty of meat. The weird thing is that I had much more dust in the front wheels!

Either turn DTC off or add a good LSD for longer rear pad life.
