Insolvency

My Miswah has recieved a letter from an ''Insolvency'' Company.

Its the second one she has recieved as she didn't respond to the last one.

They are asking for some information about a guy she purchased a car from who owned a small independant car sales company.

A Bankruptcy order has been made against the man and they are investigating his finacial affairs.

They have asked her (my miswah) How much she paid for the vehicle
the date she purchased it
How she paid for the vehicle
If she has a receipt for your car

Just checking nothing can happen to her and her car!?

Assuming he owned the car he sold her no, otherwise they might be checking profits he might of made, if any when he sold it.

Hi ya Carl,

As long as the car is HP clear (might be worth getting it checked), you should be okay.

If the car was registered to a company rather than an individual, it doesn't matter as long as there is no finance outstanding... this would mean the finance company would still have ownership.

I suspect that they are trying to find out what he (or she) did with the money of the sale.

Should be okay as long as it's HPI clear mate.

Hiya Bud,

The car was registered to its preview owner. So not even the guy who sold it to us. Hmm, getting a little paranoid now.

It was HPI clear yes.

I appreciate that I am a Newbie here...however I would suggest you out your hands into your pocket and pay for good independent legal advice before giving out ANY information to ANY company requesting such.

You might, unwittingly or otherwise, prejudice your position. Get full and proper legal advice first and then act.

Thanks for your input.

I am getting more paranoid now because of your Avatar.

They are asking for information, we don't have to reply!?

I would ignore it. You have absolutely no obligation to give them this information. Especially if they have not explained why they want it.

Have you 'googled' the Insolvency Company to see if they are what they claim (my suspicious nature).

Seems to me they have stated why they are requesting the information as they're collating info. against this bloke, hence the bankruptcy order. They're trying to ascertain a 'paper' trail of his business dealings. If he has broken the law, imagine how much it's costing to gather all this info.......don't get me started! I see the costs at work.

Am assuming the car was not registered in his name if he was trading as a car dealer.

Your call at the end of the day. Personally, I'd try ringing them if there's a phone number or at least e mail and ask any questions that may be of concern to you.

Yeah H, the car was registered the previous owner not the guy who sold it to her.

You have to work at minimum wage and contribute to the costs of your cell when imprisoned these days. Better stock up on the Anusol Carl
