Rear brake service light went off at 21k miles

My 325i is at 21k miles and the rear brake service light is already on. I was thinking about DIY it, but i am a noob at these kind of work. Will it be a hard or easy DIY?

Should i go for all BMW parts? or aftermarket brake pads/rotors?

How much do dealer/indy shop charge for rear brake service?

Thanks!

If you still have ultimate service you can get it done for free. Check they DIY section for instructions. It's pretty easy if you've done brakes before. It's not too bad if you've done them before. The caliper bolts and rotors will be rusted on pretty good. Make sure to get some thread penetrator.

If you don't drive on the track or use brakes a lot, then go with the BMW stuff. Getbmwparts.com has the parts for cheap. Dealer is over $500, and as indy shop might be $300-400.

Just one sensor. I think the pads come per axel but I'm not sure. Get brake parts cleaner, thread penetrator, and anti-squeek from your local autoparts store. You may not need rotors. If they have a huge lip, then replace them.

Nope it's only on one sensor per axel. I think it's on the passenger side in the back. You'll need to remove 2 screws from fender lining to get to the plug.
