Weight and power look on target. I think most of the rest of that will turn out to be spurious, unfortunately.

Basically that list is some guy's daydream while bored at work. Maybe mine.. I got to start using the shredder more often

If these specs are accurate then I will be a happy man. But I have serious doubts about the availability of DCT and CF roof. Also the hood bulge is dubious.

BMW going overboard on the Apple in-car hardware isn't such a good idea, IMO. How will that stuff fare 5 years from now? 10? Boo.

I agree 100% just 35 hp increase.... we can get the same no correction more with dinan/jb3 upgrade on our current 1's. I was really hoping for 350hp or better....i hope those(335hp) #'s are not accurate. Now the prize question is how much$$$ for such a car???

The more details that are revealed about this car the more I'm disappointed by it.

Pricing ?

No confirmation or details as yet, but a shade less than a Z435is is the ball park I was told to expect.

Thumbs down

Guys, don't you see that this dealer is guessing only? There are a lot of things in it which are defentily not true (DCT etc...). Don't take it for serious.

Tunning a 1 er tuned outside of BMW is not dificult and is pretty much sorted and not that expensive: Proceed, Dinan etc.

However getting the handling dynamic sorted is not that easy or cheap.
Assuming that most of the above list is correct, the 1M should tick all the handling and track day boxes. Then go and put your Dinan etc on top of that and your 1er should be very much sorted.

i will NOT be buying this car(financial reasons) but i think it's gonna be amazing. Looks wise with the wide body kit, 19's interior upgrade etcetc..IMO it's gonna be very HOT an sexy. Yea, i no power wise it is a let down compared to the N54 or N55 with a tune upgrade...but you can be assured in no time all the tuners will have a tune... For the street i am totally at peace and am not seeking more power than a JB3 on a stock engine,,it has more power than i no what to do with it and so will the 1M eventually but stock it will not be slow.... so....I am excited as hell about this car...to bad i can not own one just yet...and i dig the orange paint. The ONLY issue i have is i would want my next car in DCT...i love my step and with a bum knee i have to have DCT.

Save some other Americans the trouble of having to google it.

Any word on pricing?
Edmunds.com shows a $45,000 estimate.

100lbs lighter should translate to about 9-10hp, so overall, even though rated power is 335hp, it would be about 345hp if it were in a 100lb heavier 135i. Still, 335hp or 345hp is lackluster if true.
And, what's with the lower torque not being even here?
All the aftermarket tunes manage to increase torque substantially over HP increase. Wonder why BMW did this? They increased boost and managed to get a relative low increase in torque.

On the other hand, for me, what really matters is the power curve not the actual number.
If the curve is flatter and has more of that torque spread over more rpm, then that will be a great improvement.

I don't mind a lower number if the actual power is stretched across the band. Hopefully that is what happened.
Many of the aftermarket tunes advertise and achieve a big torque number, but the curves sometimes tell the truth, in that the big torque number only holds for about 1k of rpm and drops, then goes flat.

Also, 19's? That's for looks, UNLESS the overall tire/wheel package is lighter. But, a lighter 18" tire/wheel package would give even better gains in overall performance with better accel, quicker transitional handling, and a bit better braking due to less mass. This is more cosmetic than performance.

No talk of gearing in all of the info about the 1M. Is the gearing going to remain the same as the 135i? I would think that BMW would take the opportunity to put in a taller final drive and get even better acceleration.
It's not like a small production number vehicle, with sporting intent, needs to worry about a slight decrease in MPG.
But, the posted BMW number seems to show that gearing won't change.

BMW rates the 1M 0-60/62 at 4.9. The N54 135i is rated at 5.1 as is the N55. And, the DCT N55 is 5.0
Accel, as tested by BMW, shows pretty much a drivers race between the N54 MT/Step and the N55 MT and DCT.
If that number is true, quick stop light battles hardly give an edge to the 1M. It also indicates that gearing won't change.
Pretty slow number given a 35hp increase, 100lb decrease, and bigger rubber for better contact/traction.

So again, we've got cosmetics being a big change, with a relatively mild tune from the current 135i.
I'm sure the suspension will be much improved, but it could only get better given that the stock sport suspension is lacking.
To me it still looks more like an M appearance package, wider track, higher technology content that serves no performance parameter, and some M parts to improve handling, and that seems to be the biggest possible gain, though we'll have to wait for the testing.
It's a high M parts content 135iS. Flame proof suite zipped.

I had no intention of getting this 1M, so it doesn't really matter realistically to me. But, it still disappoints me, IF big IF these things are true for the 1M.

This info pretty much goes what I was thinking too. 1M is going to be more focused on handling than on raw power... Also, offering DCT is a pretty logically too since it's such a popular transmission choice nowadays.

The last bit about Apple weakens the whole story. It's a notoriously secretive company, any public info would be on their web site.

Hmm... Starting US MSRP for Z435is is $61k. So what's a "shade less?" Probably north of $55k and if that's the case, I'm out of the 1M game. But hopefully that won't happen. I still think our original guess-timates of $45-47k will be pretty close. That's the upside to the engine being a mildly-upgraded N54 (barring some shocking news on the engine upon final reveal).

We've already seen the actual corner of the car, we know it uses the same headlamps and what the bumper pretty much looks like.

this list is pure speculation. Not to mention the fact that BMW would not make the "stereo" an upgrade bulletin for an M car. It would make no sense for them to design a whole new stereo and only put it in 1 car that almost no one will buy.

The new BMW stereo - I think is the CIC that we all got in 2009 with a firmware upgrade. Heck the thing was HD based and took YEARS of development and it just came out 2 years ago. BMW is not replacing it in 6 months.

---- just my 2 cents ;-) ------
