Request a little assistance....damn cat scratches the Ride!

Just a couple of recommendations from you hero's out there....besides hunting down the cat and cutting it's nuts off.

Brought my new ride home two days ago. Got up this morning to find paw prints all over the hood and roof. Apparently, this cat was in the sand, jumped on my hood, couldn't get traction, scurried a bit with it's claws scratching his way on the hood, then the roof, tracked sand all over my car.

I was ticked. Hoping that they were just scuffs that could be wiped away, found that the scratches stayed.

Recommendations...bitte (please). I know you guys are the experts. Thx in advance.

No time to take pics as it was still dark prior to heading to work and dark when I return. I understand the rules....so let me be the first!

...by the way...I'm putting on my car cover every night from here on....then setting up my hide site for the ultimate ambush!

You're going to need to polish it. Do you have a porter cable, or intend on buying one in the future? If so, now is the time to do it.

If not, you can try by hand, but odds are you're results will be limited. I am not sure what products you can get in Germany, but Meguairs ScratchX would be my first try by hand. Grab a tube and an applicator and give it a go on the hood. Remember you need to use some elbow grease. You can also try other "by hand" polishes if ScratchX is not available.

if none of those work you're going to need a machine. I think a Porter Cable is the best $100-$200 you can invest in your car regardless, so you might consider getting one, some pads, some polish, and going at it.

Thx. Very helpful info. I'll hit the PX in the morning and see if they have the Meguires ScratchX.

I was just looking at the web site for the Porter Cable. Looks like I'll be investing in one very soon. Lots of different polishing pads, back plates, and counter weights to juggle. I'm almost afraid of getting a set.

Thx again Picus. You da man!

....you wouldn't happen to have a BB gun for sale, do ya?

I'll take two. Free lunch...only if they catch it. Tooth picks included.

Believe it or not some guys on Autopia had such an issue with this they figured out some product that would keep the cats off their car. It was a chemical or something. Heh.

When you decide to get the PC just let us know and someone here will be able to help you narrow down all the pad choices and stuff.

If it's your wife's cat, be nice and de-claw the little kitty.

If you I.D. the cat, match it's paw prints like on CSI, can you sue the owner?

Found out who the cat owners are. Will approach tactically tomorrow.

...and if it was my wife's cat (highly unlikely since she hates cats), it would have mysteriously vanished.

....sweet & sour with your "chicken" anyone?

Declawing will not help as the back claws are almost never removed, and in the rare instances when they are the cats are kept totally indoors. I had this problem with my Jet Black M3, and found it to be recurring The cats jump up on the hood at night because it is warm. As a veterinarian I wanted the solution to be humane.I finally placed a mattress cover over the hood and a scat mat on top of the pad. This worked to a degree as it would shock the cat. A full car cover just is not practical because when it rains the cover is a mess and takes forever to dry.

Since I've had Ti/Ag cars either this is no longer happening or I am not seeing the scratches.

Cats are alright, but I hate it when they go into the garage. They must want to go out there because they are not allowed. About the only way to get them out of the garage is to use a laser pointer to give them something to chase.

If I caught one of these cats on my new ride, I don't know just how I would react. I know I wouldn't flip out at least until I got them safely off of the car, because I know what would happen when I start yelling. Lots of claws and no traction. It happened with my last car:mad:

That would be me

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20022

I used the Zaino Z-PC by hand and it took care of the problem.

Cat no longer gets to go into the garage to warm up on the hood of the car. Of course now we have mice in the garage, but at least the car is safe

I've had cat paw prints all over my cars before. It's odd, because we have no cats, and our nearest neighbor with a car is about 9/10ths of a mile down the road.. Do they really wander that far?
