Anybody driven both US and Euro spec 335d?

Subjectively, how much difference does the extra 20hp make?

I'm sure it will make some difference, but given that the 335d is about 200 lbs heavier and the gearing is different than the 335i, it will probably still be a tad slower than the i.

I was referring to the extra 20hp in the euro 335d vs. the US version.

I have driven both, but I honestly can't remember enough difference to reference them to each other.
The TV was a nice feature though.

Yeah, they've had them on several brands for years. They don't bring them over for obvious reasons. The video works when stopped, but audio always works. You can even get satellite in them.

I understand - I'm just saying that the extra 20 or so hp isn't enough to even things up with the "i".

You may be surprised ...

BMW Car article at Bruntingthorpe PDF

This article compares European spec 335i and 335D (standard and chipped) on the same day, same location and same driver - comparative. The 335D was actually quicker around the track.

In normal road used there is nothing in it. I drove both extensively before deciding on a 335D.

Close to 4 years later, and no regrets whatsoever.

It will pull hard coming out of turns, which is why it did well on the track. It does not feel anywhere near as quick off the line. I've had mine for a couple of months and enjoy it very much. I do not think it is the canyon-carver the 335i was, though. Perhaps I need to learn to drive to its strengths. Without the throttle butterfly, you actually need to use the brakes to decelerate, as merely lifting the throttle will no longer do the trick. Of course, this has nothing to do with the OP's original question - just an observation.
