Need help with strange noise when braking

My e90 is making a weird noise when coming to a complete stop. I can not hear it when applying brakes to slow down but only when I am at very slow speeds almost to a stop. It is coming from the rear passenger side. Sounds electronic to me. My mech buddy thinks possible valve in the rear making the sound. Its def not a squeal sound like pads or rotors. Anyone no of any electronics in the rear that would be used for braking and make this sound?
Thanks
