It's a twin turbo engine (coded N54B30) and the 'is' is the only way to get this motor in a MY2011 (3-series). All other 2011 have a single turbo engine coded N55B30

Reminds me of a movie my grandpa liked, where Peter Boyle goes, "It's not Bertrand Russell, but what do you want?" Nobody said you had to be Harvard Law material to post on this forum!

Actually, I once had a heated debate with one of those types. He bet me $500 that a Lexus LS does not have 4 camshafts, and I said it did, two on each bank. I googled it and of course was right--but he said google is a sham and regardless I am wrong and owe him $500.

Actually, this isn't entirely accurate. The twin turbo N54 is also available in the Z4 sDrive35is this year.

He asked a straight up question. Do you live in the woods or something? It seems like between your 'ritual' with your car and all of your other comments your lacking some attention. Oh wait, your Canadian, so you all live in the woods with the wildlife.

You're an ignorant American, etc.

And to stay on topic, N54 FTW

Yea true - I was implying 3 series, given the forum...

Original post updated for clarity

Bloodletting? WTF? reminds me of the episode where Kramer was storing his blood under the hood of Jerry's Saab.

He was transported it to a blood bank, and Jerry's car overheated - so he used some blood as coolant. Later, Jerry needed a transfusion of Kramer's blood as well

This isn't accurate, is it? The N55 is a SINGLE twin-scroll turbocharger, the N54 (the engine in the IS) has TWO SINGLE-scroll turbos. Maybe you should read the manual.
