I got a EU spec 325i March 2010 production with 6FL/IDRIVE/base stereo.

The dealer didn't have BMW IPOD cable in stock and it will come in 2 weeks or so.

Hearing that some cars are already equipped with an updated USB that works with the apple cable (not the Y-cable) I decided to try it.

I plugged in my IPod Classic 80GB using the white apple cable and it showed me most of the songs. The song title/album/genre all is fine. I believe the missing ones are the protected aac ones but not sure. The song name is working fine.

1) One thing that don't seem to be showing are my playlists (I have both smart playlists and regular ones).

2) I am not getting any album art. I saw some other postings where the single cable ipod feature also enable album art, but I don't see it. Not a big deal since I have the idrive display map (not split screen).

Interesting, I also have a ipod nano, and when I plugged that in, the song names seem to have 5 letter codes.

I think I have to wait for the Y-cable. The apple cable support/coverart seems to be on e92/e93 only...I have e90. The fact that DRM music isn't working and there are no playlists or cover art confirms it.

Those ipod changes you are talking about are for cars built beginning this month and on. And there isn't a software update either, you need new hardware.

Actually for euro spec e92/e93 its been out since march. see posts below
