I went to Car Toys off preston and 121 yesterday to get an installation quote for an amp, speakers (front and rear) and 2 SWS's. Quoted me $400. The installer claims to be a previous BMW service tech, but I had to point out that the "subs" were under the FRONT seats, and not the back. And that there were/are 4" speakers both front and rear. I'll keep looking for an installer VP_E mentioned to me a while back that Earmark on beltline/midway is reputable.

Reputable, but expensive. They wanted a cool grand to install my JL Stealthbox, BMS front speaker upgrade, JL CleanSweep, and 2 amps.... No box building, just installation.

I talked to them a while back as well and walked out feeling a little

I don't think there's a shop around here who *really* knows BMWs. Earmark has worked with our cars before but they push their own products too hard and don't know how to work with other products that might integrate better with the car or address different needs.

I've heard good things about JR's in Irving, but I wouldn't feel comfortable unless I was watching over them. I guess it all depends on what you're looking to do with the car. Panel disassembly and running wire is actually easier than I ever expected. If you're starting from OEM HiFi, you've just about got it made.

Talk to Brian at JRs in Irving or Nick at Mobile Sound Systems in Arlington. Little further away from Earmark but won't charge you an arm and leg like Earmark does. I agree with above the dudes at Earmark will bash outside gear and elevate their stuff to over price you on gear and install.

Same here. I purchased Technic's wiring harness for the L7 amp to ease it without splicing any stock cabling too. Worked like a champ... now if only my subs didn't blow after having them in the car for a few weeks... I guess that's what happens when you don't get new subs/blast them for 6 years straight eh? :P

You guys with HiFi and L7 are lucky to be able to use Technic's harness-- everything you need is right there in the trunk!

Any chance I can get in on this? I'm *this close* to procuring the remaining parts I need and considering doing the installation myself. any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Come on in! I keep missing out on the opportunity to with Dan over the topic, but it needs to happen soon while the weather is still prime.

I remember meeting up with you in Frisco over winter-- your setup is much, much easier to execute given your goals, hardware and starting point, coming from a HiFi car.

I'm moving this weekend and next but hope to take some time out tomorrow night or sometime next week to go over this with Dan. He's going to a bit when he sees how easy things should be for your car, so long as you're not trying to fit Morel Hybrid Ovations in the doors.
