BMW CCA LA Auto-x 8-14-10 and 8-15-10 Streets of Willow

Hi Everybody,

This weekend is the second ever BMW CCA LA Chapter autocross at the Streets of Willow. We had planned to make Sunday August 15th an invitational event. However now it is open to everybody!

Saturday August 14 - This is a traditional autocross run on the Streets of Willow. This means NO OPEN LAPPING and NO PASSING. IT IS NOT A HPDE!!! You will run one car at a time against the clock. It is a championship event and counts toward the annual points challenge. However we anticipate each driver getting at least 10 practice laps and 3-4 timed runs.

Fees are $100 ($125 the day of the event) including lunch and instruction. Helmet rentals are $10 and extra lunches are $10. You do not need to be a BMW CCA Member to participate. Also because it is an autocross convertibles are allowed.

Sunday August 15 - This is a test and tune day. No trophies and no championship points. We are limiting it to 30 people MAX so that everybody gets lots of track time. While still an autocross style event there will be no defined run groups. You run as much as you want with the caveat that everybody must work corners at some time during the day.

Fees are $125 ($150 the day of the event) including lunch and instruction. Helmet rentals are $10 and extra lunches are $10.

Both events are a great way to step cautiously into high performance driving on a track. No special equipment, preparation or experience required. Come learn, play and get a tan all at the same time!

Online registration is open for both days. Please click the links above to register.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Is the LA Chapter finally using Motorsportreg now?
Thanks for the heads up on the AutoX.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Only for autocross as a trial I believe. If it all works well for AX there's definitely some thoughts we can move registration for driving schools over to motorsportreg as well.

We are trying it for auto-x. Hopefully we will migrate to it eventually...

Tik Tok.

94F Sat then 97F Sun on the forecast. At least thes lots of shade in the socal high desert.

EDIT: I mean 101 and 104. I won't be able to feel the difference anyways. What is the difference between "boiling lava hot" and "surface of the sun hot"?

Too bad Streets of Willow has not a single shady location... Only the own canopies you bring and the main building with the bathrooms.

So far we have 5 people registered for Sunday. Since the track is paid for, it will happen despite low turn out. For anybody who wants to get started on the track, this is a great opportunity for a mere $125!

Don't miss out on this one!!!

I had lots of fun. I've isolated how I could have had more fun. Water in the cooling system instead of air. That said, the e30 still makes the girls scream with next to no cooling.

What a great event. ty

Thanks for coming and helping Satakal! It was a blast. A furnace blast...but a blast nonetheless.
