Idea for Fog Lights - HID with Projectors~??
So here's my idea. Since i now have the MTEC HID 6000k's i've found they are bright, and they are a bit annoying because a lot of light gets emmitted everywhere. The trees get lit up because of the extra light thats emitted, and well, its annoying.
My idea - get an extra set of Fog lights, open it up, and put a projector unit in there to better focus the light thats emitted. I dont know if this will even work but i thought it would be something intersting to try. You can pick up a set of "projectors" for cheep of ebay, but i have no diea if they are decent quality at all. use the lense part of the projector like this one. EBAY link to projector |

I dont think the foglight housing can be separapted from the actual bumper. I think you can get the plastic cover, but not the whole housing. You might be able to find someone who has a broken bumper they are replacing. Link to realoem.com PN's for front bumper: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...13&hg=51&fg=15 I know the old generation Lexus IS (IS300) has projector fog lights. Im sure its possible, you would just need to dremel the right size opening, and mount the projector behind the housing. I would make sure there is some sort of cooling system, because there is not much room between the foglight and brake ducts if you were to mount a projector back there... and there is no air circulation in that part of the car... I dont know if I have helped at all, but oh well... |

thanks for that update and info.
I was thinking of buying the whole fog light unit, like here. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...05&hg=63&fg=15 |

Interesting idea.. I saw many done this modification on the headlight (not BMW).. So definitely can be done on the fogs... I would buy projectors from OEM maker such as ex lexus/audis.. many sold on Ebay... But yeah, I think you'll need extra E90 fog light set to start/mess with..

There he goes again with another crazy idea! I'm pretty sure that the 7 series has projectors too. e65, e66? They're not white in color, but they're still the projector lens. Maybe you could look into that, too?

I had a Lexus IS300 with projector fogs and they were really cool. I think the bulb size was 9006 just a regular 4500k halogen but the reflective material inside of the projector was coated with a yellow coating that made the light output really deep yellow. Slap a set of 3000K HID's in there and that would really look sweet. I was actually thinking of trying that myself eventually. I seen a few sets on ebay for like $150. Im not sure if the JDM ones project yellow though.

How did you get them to stop flickering when the car is on? I just installed a set and man......drama..... just got this ECU canceler kit but it looks like a major pain to install...before I jump in to this project over the weekend It sure wuld be nice if there was an EZR fix.
