Need some opinions for a concept..PICS!!

I just threw this idea together real fast on CS2, wanted to see what it might look like.
I didn't want the stripes to be loud and immediately evident so I darkened them quite a bit, and also completely blacked out the front grille. Perhaps these stripes would be vinyl, or paint.
Anyway, tell me what you think
(look hard for the stripes, they might not be immediately apparent)

You're right...the stripes are hard to see. Should I assume they follow the sculpture line of the body?

You may be criticized for suggesting stripes, particularly vinyl, but I don't have a problem with them, particularly if they are very subtle. The traditionalist in me says they must be painted...vinyl somehow seems a little tacky but it has the advantage of being able to be easily removed if you change your mind.

It would appear that the "King" is creating a "Prince of Darkness" model! More power to you!

And glad to have another Oregonian aboard.

To each his own but Im not really feeling it. The stripe kind of reminds me of the dodge viper with the 2 white stripes down the center of the car.

Yeah dickster the lines would follow the sculpture lines of the body, from front to back. If I ever did it I'd definitely have it painted on there, I don't know exactly why I like it, but I just do. I agree that it could be reminiscent of the stripes on the viper, but to be honest the inspiration for it came from the paint job on the fleet of 7-series featured in a chase scene from the crappy film 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'.
While the stripes on the cars in that movie may have been lighter gray, I wanted to keep things low key, and make the lines hard to discern unless one were to take a second look.

I like the idea, you should definitely pursue.. and don't rule out the vinyl option just yet... you should visit a professional graphics shop, I did up my ski boat a few years ago and it was incredible what they can do.... then you can shoot another clear coat over it... end result could be better than your pic, which is smokin'...

Ya mean the subdued skunk stripe on the passenger side? Nope, sorry, doesn't work for me. I agree somewhat with wahoo they should be limited to Shelbys, Mustangs and GT40s.

Don't do it.

Looks tacky on a BMW, even more so on an E92, which is sporty and elegant.

Sleep on it for a while ... I'm sure there are tons of other mods that you can do on the E92 that would look much better and fitting.

If you truely want to do it, since it's suttle ... I would go with the vinyl, so I can rip it off after the high is gone and enough people badger me about it

P.S.: The BMWs in the chase scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith are E39 5series

I'd hope that you all have seen the 5-series in Mr. and Mrs. Smith before making a judgement, because the cars really do look pretty hot. I find the stripes to be fairly sporty, and elegant in some sense. But, I asked for opinions, and I got them! Thanks guys!

Norsk I wasn't sure whether they were the 7, or 5-series. Regardless, that fact is pretty moot at this point.

Yeah--I don't think I like it--this would look better on something like a Mustang.

I like your subtle stripes better than the ones in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Here are the cars from the movie for comparison.

I really like the black grill that you put, but I really don't like the stripe idea. I just think it looks really out of place on that car.

It's your car and sometimes custom modification like stripes might suit your need.
For me, the grill is nice.... the stripes, hm not feeling it. But that's my personal opinion.

Yep, the ducks. In fact, I am a duck.

Once again all, thanks for the constructive criticism!

I guess in the end I'll have to decide, I must say that I probably will not do this to the car, I just wanted to get a consensus on what people thought of the idea.
Thanks for the reference pics by the way.

Personally, when I think stripes on a car, I think of a muscle car, not BMW, so I'm personally not a fan. However, if you're going to do it, you're right not to make the stripes too loud. Just don't get goofy and write "BOSS" or some such on the side of the car...
