More n55 updates/datalogs

Procede code reading/clearing & DTC mapswitching demo:

And here is some interesting datalogs I took a few days ago. Valet mode (stock tune):

1st thru 3rd gear WOT (dual clutch transmission in Sport code). Very fast shifting. Not even any boost drop between shifts:

3rd gear WOT. Standard boost taper above ~5600rpm. But much less taper than the n54 above 6500rpm.:

5th gear low end boost response test. Full 7psi of boost by 1700rpm!:

Conclusions: The car runs slightly more boost than the n54 at the same IAT level. And it has less boost roll off above 6500rpm. Very boost boost control stability. And low end boost response up is the same, if not slightly better. And that Dual Clutch transmission is just awesome. Fully tuned, this car will be spectacular.

Cheers,
shiv

lol... it all depends on the upper limits of that single turbo. I'd be surprised if it can support the 400+whp that the twins on the n54 can. But surprises do happen. The good news is that a 7DCT n55 wont need to make the same power as a 6MT/6AT n54 in order to offer the same performance. I'd bet that even with 20whp less power, an n55 would keep up with an n54 all other things equal. With 7 speeds and those super-fast shifts, the engine always is in its sweet spot and doesn't lose momentum between gears.

Just make sure you finish up all the things on the N54 before you abandon the N54 and move your attention to the N55...I am still waiting for the nitrous documentation!

Whats that code that keeps popping up on your video??

Which n55 car has the 7DCT? I thought that was only in the 335is(N54)?

...maybe an easier gt35r or gt40r turbo upgrade than an N54?

Now both BMS and Vishnu tuners will tune with DCT test cars while the majority of 335i users will have automatic transmission...

This is total speculation but I'd imagine that upgrading the snail on the N55 will be fairly easy. We just need info on the flange used. IMO, the N55 won't hold as much power as the N54. IIRC, the N55 weighs ~55lbs less than the N54 which means less material which, all else equal, means less strength.

So the PROcede is just a Haltech that's set up for the BMW?!?! That basically means the autotune features have been there all along.

Ehh no. My programming interface is a modified version of halwin. Because our software developer used to work for Haltech a few years ago. Last I checked, haltech has no n54 application. Let alone autotuning functionality or even even basic user adjustability. If u call them, they will likely refer you to us.

Not true. Most the weight savings is from the cat and one less turbo assembly than the N54. The basics of the N54/55 engine are the same. The N55 head will actually weigh more since valvetronic has more parts than the N54 head.

.

Hmmm... I didn't think about it that way. I hope you're right With that said, I know for a fact (>95%) the N55 weighs less than the N54 so, if valvetronic is heavier, it can't be by much.
