What is this?
Hey guys! bought an used 07 335i so far love it! Today I traced an "aftermarket" wire and found this device (see pics attached) behind the battery compartment wall.
it has three wires out, red directly goes to the battery positive, black is grounded(I can see the crappy work that has been done..) and black/white goes somewhere under the rear deck but it hooked nothing, something has been removed on the other side. Anyone knows what it is? Can I simply get rid of it or re-use it? If I can get it back to work, I would like to redo the installation due to the previous crappy work. UPDATE: I just googled by the FCCID and found one search result: VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM SECURITY ALARM (FCCID: IDIVLU-05) P/O NO:4600-1101-01-BP INV.NO.: EXO5382 Not sure if FCCID tells anything though... could it be the backup battery the previous owner left over from an alarm sys? UPDATE:
Found off ebay, following is the desc, NEW LOJACK Transponder 4600-1101-01 Rev. 1.2.2 This auction is for one NEW, never installed, LOJACK Transponder unit, such as is hidden in new vehicles. These are $600 to $1300 installed. 12V system, works on most vehicles including Motorcycles and ATV's. Simple installation, one ground wire, one always on +12V wire and an antenna wire that needs no connection, simply string it out. Small so you can hide it well in a place of your own conception. Only draws 1ma of current so it will not drain your battery. Once installed go to my.lojack.com and enter the registration number of your unit and it's now activated. How It Works The unit is not broadcasting a signal unless you report the vehicle as stolen and then a signal is sent that activates the transponder unit causing it to transmit a signal that will help enable the police to locate your vehicle. If your vehicle is second hand and has a lo-jack unit, it is not transferable. You will need to replace it with a new one that you can register. NOTE: We erased the registration numbers from the digital photograph. The buyer wouldn't want the whole world knowing the registration number of their unit. HOW DID WE GET THESE: We obtained this via salvaged freight. It is new and has the bar coded serial number tags to prove it. No gimmicks or tricks, simply a new, register-able Lo-Jack unit at a bargain price. If you have any questions about this item please ask, we want you to be an informed buyer! We accept Visa & MasterCard using Propay checkout! |

NO, not one in my 09 E92, in fact the area I live in PA (could be the entire state IDK) doesn't even subscribe to LoJack so having one for me would be useless
