It must have a 19" wheel option too.

What if they call it "1M" or "M Coupe" or "M Turbo"? I might be disappointed in the name if it is 135M, but if it is a beast and looks like a stud, I'm getting it, and maybe either trade or keep my IS...

All reasonable suggestions but if it is supposed to be an M and the model is a 1 then they have no choice. I think they need to non precious about the designation. It was used a long time ago on a very low production run model.

If they call it 1///M, I will buy the one you would have bought. It must have left hand drive though.

Oh, and the 1///M must be displayed on the back of the car, exactly 5 inches from the right hand side of the car, and must not be over 3 cm in total height.

Oh, and it must have the red speedometer/tach needles, not longer than 2 incles or else I won't buy it.

It won't happen, M1 is an Iconic car for BMW. Forever retired. Much like Babe Ruths number at Yankeee Stadium. How about 1M?

they just need to call it an M1 and get over it. The general populace won't even know what the original M1 was...and those who do will not confuse it with a 2012 M1. ...M1, M3, M5...keep it clean BMW

Segler confirmed that it won't be called M1. The name doesn't really matter to me tho, I'm gonna debadge it if I ever get it anyway

If there no plans to build a M1 supercar just use it for the 135M.
As stated before the general public doesn't know the original M1 existed. Even if they have seen pictures they probably don't know it is a BMW.

Get over it BMW, it's not like you're Ferrari

I will not accept this car not having polished aluminum doorsill trim.
Plus, if there's any change whatsoever to the shape of the AC vents and the windshield sprayers, BMW will loose out on my money.

I have my standards.

Anyone who is fan of BMW Motorsports, and knows of its history knows about the M1, and about its impact that it had at the time. You may think it was a non car, but believe me BMW and especially its Motorsport division doesn't. I agree, people under 21 years old, that have not read or become familiar with the M cars, probably know nothing of the M1. But unfortunately the manufacturer of the car,BMW, whose history goes back to the early 1900's does remember, there are still M1 cars on the roads, and it was and is and Iconic car. It was a showcase car for BMW. They created a special racing series for the car. Nikki Lauda gained racing skills in this series.

It has already been stated that the new M car based on the 1 series platform, will not be called M1. Any amount of pleading, begging, cajoling, wishing, bribing, threatening, dreaming, anger, or any other gestures will not change it. I have nothing to get over, as I already know what an M1 is. I find it amazing people don't get this.
