I've just bought a new ipod shuffle and connected by jack lead to AUX.

although it plays ( quietly ) It only plays sequential or shuffle. I can not select the tracks I want and there is no display.

Am I doing something wrong or will I have to live with the limited performance

Unfortunately you have no way of controlling or displaying the tracks when you use the AUX connection. It is solely an audio feed. If you want the track names displayed there are a number of things that you will have to do.

1. Get an ipod with a display.
2. If you have got a USB interface you can get an adapter cable to connect it.
3. If you have no USB then you will have to get an ipod interface fitted of which there are 3 types
i. BMW ipod interface £400ish fully fitted
ii Dension Gateway 500 £299 + fitting
iii Mobridge £ALOT

The Dension is considered to be the best interface but we are still talking quite a lot of money.
