Remote windows

IIRC, the E46 had remote window operation, so that you could insert the key in the door, turn, and hold to raise or lower the windows. Since the E90 does not use the key as part of its normal operation, does it still have this feature, and if so, how does it operate?

I think that's pretty standard, so i would presume that you can still do that to:

Open Windows, hold down the unlock key until all windows and sunroof opens.

Close all windows and sunroof, take out the secret key in the fob and insert in door handle turn and hold until all is closed.

Anyone else to comment on this?

Well, on the E46, if you hold the unlock button on the remote it will remotely lower the windows, i'm assuming this will work on the e90 remote too. I dont know about raising the windows tho.

I assumed they would put all the same functionality on the remote, but wasn't sure. I finally ordered a 325i, need to post in the "who has ordered theirs" thread...

I actually tried this on my recent test drive. Holding down the unlock button on the key fob, all windows and sunroof went down. But for some reason it did not work with them going back up. We had to take the key out from the back of the fob and insert it into the door lock and turn the key. This made all the windows go back up. I don't know why it wouldn't work for both up/down functions. My sales person said that's how they set these ones up.

On the E46 in the USA the cars wont close the windows with the remote, and the option doesnt appear on the service computer

In the rest of the world the windows will close, and there is the option to put it on or off on the service computer

Must be a USA legislation problem
Guess the E90 will be the same

E90fleet,

That's exactly what I was afraid of... There was a mod kit for Volkswagens that allowed remote rollup/rolldown, I'm not aware of one for the E46, but hope springs eternal...
