Quick Help deciding options for 335i sedan
1. I'm looking to get fully optioned 335i and I can't decide if I want a sport suspension or not? I'll never be driving on manuals and I'm not really sure, because i've never driven a bmw.. My current car is Toyota 4Runner 2005..
2. my mom is saying that Coupe costs more on insurance over sedan. Is this true? 3. What's 417 Rear manual side Window shades w/Power rear window shade? can anyone explain to me with a plain english language?? also 465 split-folding rear seats 4. Any suggestion would be great, because i'll be buying on this Saturday or Sunday. I already printed out the TMV pricing report.. should I go from the MSRP? or from the average between those? thank you guys ! i'm first time here |

1. I assume you are getting the 335i vs. 328i because of the performance difference. With that in mind, I suggest you get the Sport Package. You get better tires, nicer rims, sport suspension, more supportive seats and a better steering wheel(in my opinion).
2. I do not think there is much data around (Accident Rate, Theft Rate etc.) for Insurance Companies to make this assumption yet!(I could be wrong). As a side note, on my 328ci I was paying 290/month (NYC) and on my current car I am paying about 180/Month(25 YO). Granted I wasn't married, didn't have a kid, and was 18 YO. 3. I didn't get this option since I was going to tint my car anyway. But this option is basically the plastic/cloth tarp that rolls up from the rear deck/dash and covers the rear window for Sun-Protection & privacy. The same material is used on the rear passenger windows though you have to slide them manually. Split folding rear-seats, I wish I had them, they are basically your rear seats that fold down for access to the trunk in case you want to haul larger objects. Good Luck!

thank you so much kablaam
holy shit ! does this mean i pay $290 a month for my insurance? i'm 18 years old too i haven't paid anything for my toyota 4runner, because i just added my name to my mom's car.. For the sport suspension, wouldn't it make the ride harsher? also those performance tires that come with sport suspension is not recommended for snow and ice... I do live in CA, so no snow, but what do you guys think? i might be going trip.. i do not know |

Do not use the sport tires in snow, not good. The ride is harsher, but still very acceptable imo with the sport pkg. Plus the car sits lower, looks better. The seats and steering wheel are really worth it.

1. Yes, you want the sports package. 2. Insurance rates for a car are figured from multiple points including age of the driver, MSRP of the car, the list goes on and on. Depending on the other pieces involved, the insurance on a coupe could be more then a sedan but the reverse could be true as well. 4. Start with dealer invoice price and go from there. |

Your insurance payments will cost about the same as your lease payments. Figure $700-800/mo for a 24-month lease, and around $500-600/mo for insurance if you're in California, NY, etc. with a typical teen-age driving record.
I'll refrain from the usual skepticism about an 18-yr-old driver and this car, etc., etc. If you have to ask if you want the sport package, you already know the answer. Decide for yourself; I don't think you were looking for our advice as much as you wanted to advertise just how cool it is that you're getting a 335i. |

Typically the coupe should cost more, just based on the fact that from an insurance stand-point they're viewed as more of a "sports car", and usually attract a younger buyer. Throw in your young age, you're a guy, not married, and that you're looking at 300hp... be ready to pay an arm and a leg. If you have a few tickets already, that's going to hurt it as well. Get the sports package. Sure the ride's a bit rougher then the non-ZSP cars; but this is the "ultimate driving machine", not the "couch on wheels". Plus the seats alone are worth it. You're in Cali... don't worry about the tires. As for price. Don't work off MSRP. Start at invoice and go from there. I called all the BMW dealerships in Michigan and over the phone offered $750 over invoice for an ordered car, or I'd take my business elsewhere. Three dealers agreed right there.

In response to your questions: 1) You need the sport package. How could you live with the limiter at 120? You'd be able to bounce off it on the straight at Laguna Seca if you were inclined to track the car. 2) Insure is going to cost a lot, but coupe versus sedan shouldn't make much difference afaik. Plus the coupe looks way better and the split rear seat it very classy imo. 3) The sunshade is a waste of money imo. We had them on my mom's X5 and I think we used them three times, maybe. The only real reason to get them it to keep car seats in the back comfortable for the kids.

The limiter for the non-sport package is 130, not 120. You will not hit 130 in this car at that raceway. My Diablo 6.0 barely crazed 130 at LS. |

I assumed you were getting the Sedan, I believe the coupe has Sport Suspension Standard..?? DO NOT use these tires in SNOW!!! You're asking for an accident. I had performance all seasons on my previous acura TL while slowing down at a stop light, well I didn't stop and luckily it was 5am and no cars were on the road. I ended up doing a couple of 360's into a 4 lane intersection. Yes and I was feathering the throttle, slight downhill @ 10mph. Popped on my Blizzak WS50's (which I put on too late ) and the same hill I could stop, almost on a dime. Imagine max performance summer tires Suspension is firmer then regular, but not unbearable. Roads in CA are probably MUCH better:rocks: than NY/NJ, so I think you should be fine. Good luck!

To the OP: ignore people who have a post count less than a Fibonacci sequence of 6! <-- that means I qualify to be heard
j/k ppl, carry on. Looks like you got most of your questions answered. 1. Get Sports pkg 2. Coupe is probably a higher insurance rate: 2-door sportier look, your young age, car's incredible power. 3. Save your money, tint your windows. 4. Don't pay MSRP, go from invoice and do a search on how much others have paid
