I was driving home from work this weekend and I got the half engine light with a Service Engine Soon light and on my Navigation screen I got a "Engine Malfunction! Power Reduced". I know of 4 people personally that have had this same thing and all were the HPFP.


I just dropped mine off yesterday at a dealership here in Germany and got a call back today and they were talking about the 1st thing they want to do is "update software". If it comes to not fixing the problem is it true that BMW has extended warranty for this problem to 5 year/100000 miles? If so where would I get this information to take to the dealer for they are saying they have never heard of anything like this.

that is only in US dude as far as I know .... if it's applied to your country as well , they will replace the HPFP immediately without evening asking your permission ..

Thanks, and BMW may cover the cost in Germany, but it just depends on what Dealer you go to. The dealer in Heinsberg, Germany, the name is KOHLs, will not cover the costs and will play dumb that they have no idea what this problem is and that they have never heard of it. I know of 3 different people that have gone in there with this problem and they all say they have acted the same. After over a week of having my car they finally said BMW will only cover 50% of labor, 100% the part and will not cover the Diagnostic Check. Total price equaling 960 Euro and out of pocket I must pay 550 Euro.

I hope people from this local area sees this and DO NOT go to this place!!!!!

Too bad!

Awfull business practice as this is a very common problem on our cars. I had the same thing happen to me as well, covered by BMW but still gave me a hard time until they decided to fully cover the repair!
