I need help before I place my ED order
Before I place my ED order,I need you all's advice on some options that I should get.
1.Does Black get hot in the sun, that is,when I install window tinting 2.Do I really need Active Steering,it sounds cool, but at the same time, from what I hear, its not really necessary 3.Do you suggest Sparkling Graphite, or Titanium silver,im torn between the two colors, because the SG is what BMW has in there brochure, and it looks cool, but I like silver, because I think it looks sharp, and will stand out. Thanks, xavier |

No not much hotter. I mean if its 90F (white) and 95F(balck) does the extra 5 really matter? You'll blast the AC anyways 2.Do I really need Active Steering,it sounds cool, but at the same time, from what I hear, its not really necessary Waste of 2k. Better to spend on otehr goodies 3.Do you suggest Sparkling Graphite, or Titanium silver,im torn between the two colors, because the SG is what BMW has in there brochure, and it looks cool, but I like silver, because I think it looks sharp, and will stand out. No. Because you'll have the 3892749832th silver/grey bmw. And 389217598043750894370843758943 silver/grey car in the world.

2. No. 3. I'm partial to SG obviously. IMO there are far to many silver near-luxury/premium cars out there.

I choosed Sparkling Graphite though I wanted Black first. I 100% glad with my choice! I would advise SG especially if you live in another place than I do as I don't like to see the same cars as mine very often |

1) Black will be a little hotter than gray but it won't matter since you live in Texas. It won't be anything the A/C can't handle.
2) No but if you have money to burn, why not? Otherwise NO! 3) My wife loves her Sparkling Graphite and I do as well but it is a very popular color. That's why I want Montego Blue on my 335.....

Black is much hotter. According to BMW, "light-colored finishes can reach temperatures of up to 170F/80C and dark finishes can reach up to 248F/120C."
That is a huge difference with consequences far beyond how long it takes AC to cool the car down (and extra fuel doing so). 250F is well beyond boiling, and a lot of materials will begin to break down at such high temps. Bottom line is that your car will age faster and be less comfortable. If you have ever jumped into a car with a black interior on a hot sunny day when you were wearing shorts/short sleeves and touched bare skin to the seats, well, let's just say that I hope you are a fast learner. I would opt for silver (TiAg) if you ever intend to have your car outside in the sun in Texas. Interior color choice is more difficult, as the black & alu combo is classic. Then again, if you prefer to be different then grey or saddle are excellent choices (but they are not available in 'ette). Active steering? No thanks, but you might want to test drive it to see if it's important for you. |
