Anyone have experience with Optimum Compound?
I have been using this on my black sapphire metallic e92. It does not seem like the cut is that strong. Is there anyone here that can confirm this? I have found myself making several passes with an orange pad and it does not get all of the swirls/scratches out. Seeing as how this is labeled as a compound, I would like to hear from those with experience with the product before I continue using it. I do not want to end up stripping too much of my clear.

yikes...I find it a little misleading that it is called a compound. I also have the Optimum Polish and noticed that it really doesn't do much at all. The only thing I have been using it for is to remove the haze from the compound..

Optimum products have a very long working time and flash time. I did my beater F150 last week and used Optimum Compound, it worked great in the sun, long break down time and removed lot of imperfections I had.
Try breaking it down longer

thats the only plus to OC, is the ability to work in the sun, which is why I carry it with me still. The cut is not as great as you would think though. You can mix in some 105 to the OC and get better cut, less dust, but less cut than 105 would offer on its own obviously.

how many minutes does it usually take you to do a 1'x1' or 2'x2' panel using the OC?

via PC its about 8-10 minutes, via rotary its about 3 minutes
if you are looking to spend the weekend detailing your car, optimum is fine. If you want it done in a day, look into menzerna or meguiars as the break down and working time is much shorter, and IMO, the results are better! |

It's funny that you mention this. I spent most of the weekend detailing the car and am still not finished. I will probably pick up some new products the next go around. I can't imagine spending this much time again
