Anyone track an E90 325i?

Hi,

I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Has anyone taken a naturally aspirated e90 325i to the track? I've read about the 335i and limp mode - is that restricted to the 335i or would it also apply to the naturally aspirated 325i? Were there any issues to look out for?

In Australia, we have the twin turbo 335i (225kw/306hp/400nm) and the next step down in petrol engines is the NA 325i (160kw/218hp/250nm) with 2.5litre engine.

Thanks

you should have no problems with heat soak and the associated limp mode. the 325 is a NA car and the 335 problems come from the turbos and thier cooling systems

For the past three (?) years these guys have been romping on the e90 325i motors. Only this year (2010) did they move to the 328 power plant.

I would actually expect the 32X to be a better platform for racing. Less parts to worry about, lighter, etc. Bimmerworld/Turner has done really well with theres over the past few years.

Hi,

Thanks, that sounds good. But I should clarify: I will be driving a stock e90 325i (with msport package) on my daily driver...with my daily driver tyres. So the experience of dedicated race car is a bit beyond me...

One of my friends used to own a 2006 325i (e90), which he tracked a few times without any issues. Here is post with an in-car video from one of those track days: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...00&postcount=1

nice. Cause, that "anyone" does include James Clay.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Bimmerworld team was running an unmodified 325 motor in WorldChallenge.

Besides your motor, no different than any other e90.
