Question Good Tint Shop in Washington DC / Northern Virginia Area

Does anyone know of a good tint shop in the Washington DC / Northern Virginia area? Preferably in the Mclean area.

Do you have Comfort Access? If you do, you will need a non-metallic tint. I found a Huper Optik guy that quoted me $500 in Alexandria. I'm not sure if I'm going to get those tints or not, but if you are interested, I'll give you his name and number.

How would the comfort access be affected by the tint?
Can you forward me the contact infirmation for the tint shop?
I wonder if the dealer would add tint?

Hope you get your car soon

Check your PM for the tint installer contact info.

A Comfort Access driver, Broken1, described problems when the back window had metallic tint. Apparently, the metallic tint interfered with the signals from the fob to the attenna and sometimes unlocking/locking the door would take multiple attempts. The dealer replaced it with non-metallic tint and then Comfort Access worked well again right away.

No problem. Post pics after you get your tints installed.

What kind of tints are you getting and how dark?

Call Matt at TNT Tint...he's a one man operation and does an excellent job. He does Huper Optik, but I got Madico (non-metallic) on my e90 which includes a full lifetime warranty for replacement or repair. He is located in Alexandria off S. Pickett Street and his number is (703) 239-2460. Let me know if you have any questions...

That is exactly the same person I recommended! How much did he charge for the Madico install? Are you happy with it?

He charged $210. I am EXTREMELY happy with it. He's a really nice guy and did an excellent job. He's relatively young but has been installing tint 6 days a week for 13 years...so he knows what he's doing! I'll post some pics either tonight or tomorrow...

How good is the Madico tint from keeping the heat out during the summer months? What color interior do you have?

It's seems to be doing okay so far. I have 35% all around and it is substantially cooler than before I had it installed. I have the beige leather interior with wood trim. I also had Madico on my 05 Volvo S40 (before I got the e90) which had black leather and aluminum trim. It did an excellent job of reflecting the heat in that car as well. But if you are looking for something that is mainly for heat/light reflecting qualities, then you might want to spend the money for Huper Optik--which Matt can also install.

Yeah, I'll be sure to post some pics as soon as possible. I think it probably is worth your time--especially if you work in town and can drop it off during lunch or something.

I work in Bethesda. Can you give me his contact information? Also, do you know if he installs paint protection film also?

Ha ha, no problem. I don't think he does install any sort of paint protection.

He took about two hours to install on all four side windows and the rear. He's pretty meticulous about the application and takes his time trimming the film.

Is your tint metallic? I have the comfort access and have read that metallic tint can affect that feature.

No it isn't metallic--it is actually dyed. But it is a high quality tint that will never turn purple--but even if it did, there's a lifetime warranty. I avoided metallic tint for fear of it interfering with electronics in the car as well...although I'm not positive about it's effects on those things. I guess it's just better to be safe than sorry....
