Talking Picked my brother up at the Subaru dealer, His SA says"SUBARU WAGON BEATS M3"

My brother just purchased a new subaru wagon with the 2.5T and he was getting his first oil change today and a remote start and asked if I would pick him up. Since I just received my e90 335i 2 weeks ago he ended up talking to his SA at subaru about my car and BMW's in general. According to his SA, who also has a 2.5T wagon, he beat a M3 in a street race through 4 lights, I ABOUT SHIT MY PANTS LAUGHING. Furthermore, his SA said that my brother's wagon would beat my 335i in a race. Of course, my brother's been in my car, and he said HE STARTED LAUGHING IN HIS SA"S face. Much to the SA's disappointment, I guess he looked shocked when my brother started laughing. I mean comon, maybe you can compare an STI to a 335i/m3 but a WAGON!!!!!

My brother knows that I beat a STI on the freeway a couple days ago from 60-110 mph by three car lengths........when I dropped him off to pick up his car I told him to tell his SA to get a stock STI and we would go to the freeway and see what happens (I'm stillnot doing hard non-rolling starts, only 400 miles). So the guy comes out to talk to me totally hatin on my car and points to a STI......of course it's got bbs rims, sticky tires, some hugh exhaust and who knows what else. I just laughed and was happy I don't have to drive subaru's anymore, although my first car (legacy) did go 200k without problems.

Funny story......some ppl are so weird.

I have not been up against an STI but it seems the guys in the Audis want to take a run against the 335i.

Funny thing they are not in S4's...I have only had my 335i sedan a week but have had 3 A4's (1 3.2 and 2 3.0's) challenge me.

I also had a guy in a new C70 T5 with the hard top convertible challenge me.

Of course, they were all vanquished (without really trying).

Not sure why these guys with much few ponies are trying to take on a 335i. Maybe they like the view of the dual exhaust pipes.

I expect to be challenged by the new G35 or an IS350 or Boxster/BoxsterS but I would not go out looking to beat a 911 Turbo or a Vette Z06.

Just not sure what it is with these Audi guys.

That reminds me of my childhood and the neighbours kid who used to say "my dads Volkswagen Beetle is faster than your dads car..."

He was really serious about this. Just checked again and the BMW 3.0s my dad drove back then had around 190hp, which was plenty in those days. The Beetle (think it was a 1302) came with 44hp. Not that it mattered to me at that time (or does now), but as you said, some people are weird....

What year did you grow up in, 1902? I've never heard of any car having 44HP. That's a disgrace to automobiles everywhere. What'd the thing do 0-60 in? An hour and a half?

For the record, this was in the early 70s. My first ride, and I can say this with pride since I paid for it with my own money at the age of 19, was a Renault 4. Purchased the car in the summer of 1987 and it had a staggering 34hp. Man, did I love that car... Times change...

I used to drive my grandma's 76 Corolla, it had about 70hp. It was fine all the time except merging onto the 405 freeway at 80 mph and the car would only go about 60. It was 0-60 in like 20 seconds, no exaggeration.

The good old days? I think not.

So in other words, my corolla would have had you by about 10 carlengths... It brings to mind that video of the Fiat, the Ferrari, and the F1 car going around a track with staggered starts and finishing together. A great video, I can't find it right now though.

If you chipped the engine they can get significant more power which is possible at one point to beat m3.

A chipped STI will beat an M3, not some crappy wagon.
