test drove the 335 coupe

just tested the 335 E92, wooow wooow, what a fast car.
loads of tourque, but as some of our friends mentioned in previous threads, not that big difference than the 330.
the main difference is on the PICKUP, it just throws you back to your seat, and i was shocked when i heard the turbo whining, which is not noticable always, but i heard it twice and it sounds like these spaceships sounds that you hear in the movies when the spaceship opens it door electronicaly
price is very expensive, which made me thinking of keeping my dear E90 for couple of years more, with a target to hunt the 335 in the future:rocks:

I took my car last week to the delaership for the scheduled maintenance and intentionally made an effort not to go for a 335i test drive. I know once I do that, all rationalisation will fly out of the window and I might do something silly.
I have promised myself that I will get 2008 model- whether I break that promise will remain to be seen.

Is it just me that doesnt like the new e92 (coupe) :behind:???
IMO - BMW should have gotten rid of the rear end of the 392, and placed an e90 rear end on it...I hate the new rear end look of the coupes (toyota, old lexus look) The front is awesome on the other hand....

I think they are both hot, but I would have to say that they hit a bullseye with the sedan. Work of art.

For 40+ hp, i will first get 25K hit on the e90, and then, another 30k hit after E92 on the ground and after having test driven the new M3........... I am more happy to see 100K is still in my bank account and I still have a paid 265hp E90 nicely modded too.

yeah i dont like the back too, almost an afterthought...nothing personal you 335 owners! The entire car is edgy, then the rear is like...10 years back. Anyways, still awesome car.I tested it before going for a big discount on a 330i. The power game never ends, and as the other guy said, the M3 is around the corner...then what? The ~255 on the 330i suits me just fine, im not trying to beat the local racer in his turbo'd Z or something like that.

Amazing how much negativity there is towards the 335 coupe. What was I thinking when I picked mine up yesterday morning??

i disagree. Just got back from the LA Auto-show and I loved the coupe. I would choose the back of the coupe over the sedan any day hence why i am paying premium for my coupe on order

To my eyesi like the E92 taillights more than the E90 lights (this is the main design flaw i saw on the E90). The E92 lights looks like a baby version of the 7series taillights.

Again, just my perference and opinion.

Comparing 330i E46, 265hp for the 330i E90 is already a gift. There is a 7 years generation gap between a E92 335i and a M3 E46. Today, a 42K 335i is as fast as a 65K M3 E46, and almost as fast as my 120K (or 70K in US) C55 . I guess this is just the trend of power war entering the mid price sports coupe/sedan market in new generation cars. What that implies, future super sedans shoppers will be paying say just 10-15% more for 20-30% more power e.g. M3 E90, C63 ; or paying 20% more for Ferrari power e.g. CLK63. Just the trend, the later we buy new cars, the more hp/$. But 3K more... yes, I would bow.

More about the E92 rear....if we close our eyes , just imagine the E92 rear was on the E90 and the E90 rear were on the E92, now, which one is ugly?

My Sentiments Exactly!
When I had my E46 Coupe I was worried that its design was going to be the end of the 3 series coupe beauty, and that they were going to mess it up with the new design, which of course BMW proved me otherwise. IMHO the design of the new 3 series coupe is perfect.

I didnt like the look of the rear of the coupe either when I first saw a couple of days after it was released, but as I have seen a few on the road, the whole car has grown on me.

I couldnt afford a 335, but I could have gotten a 328 coupe, but oh well, the sedan is just fine, it looks GREAT, and performance wise, coupes and sedans are nearly equal.

Personally I think the rear looks classy. Mind you I never really look at the rear end, I'm inside mine, which is a wonderful place to be.
