Software 37.XXXX Discussion
There have been numerous posts (including my observations) that this new version of software reduces the peak and sustained boost in our cars, in stock form. The S/W is applied when you get your HPFP replaced, or as a first step before your HPFP fails (their excuse for not changing your HPFP).
I would like to discuss what everyone's findings are w/ respect to this new software, tuned or not. So does your car feel slower or laggier after the software update? I think the software would be deployed for any reason, in other words, whenever you need an update, you'll always go to the most current.
With that being said I do think it causes the car to be slower as I got it a week ago. Does that mean it adds longevity? If so, I'll accept it. If it's the difference between being able to drive my car or leaving it in the garage 24/7 indefinitely and having to move it with a flatbed, I'll also take it.... p.s. no hpfp replacement for me and I'm not tuned |

I don't have 37.1 yet but all the logs I've seen from it look normal. Like this one from a customer on map 7. Post up your map 0 and 7 logs for comparison.

kinda heard that ALL cars going in for any service work will be getting the newest BMW encrypted software as a mandatory upgrade.

one will sacrifice for the other -- name one performance - true performance car that doesnt need care and feeding -- not withstanding the fact that cars that are more durable are considerably heavier, have more cylinders and may be considered gas guzzlers. the one exception is a relatively stock japanese car (like my Honda Civic) but what would i rather drive for performance?? my 86 Mustang 5.0LX lasted over 200,000 miles and all it needed was a T-5 tranny and 2 fuel pumps, again that was a 8cylinder car .. and no where near as stable and as fast as my 335 then again i had a small block v-8 Vega that ate fuel pumps and fuel pressure regulators for lunch, now that would kick both the 335 and mustang is the a** .. whats up with that -- it costs to go fast havent had the pump fail (fingers/toes crossed) .. but when it does itll be on BMW's dime .. not mine just my $.02 |

not gonna happen in the near future... poses a lot of issue unless warranted.. risky to implement and deploy all that software, and dealers only have so many programming stations for this use.. as it can tie up a car (depending on I-Level) up to 2.5 hours.... and there are plenty of un-programmed cars still out there ... so unless needed -- i see/hear no move in that direction..

BMW is not going to update your software if you go in for an oil change or a blown light bulb. I have seen cars have to be kept overnight for software upgrade as it didn't take or crashed halfway through. Not something you want to be tying your lifts up with at a busy dealership. Mike |

Mike any comments on compatibility between 37.2 and JB3? I don't see how a signal modifier wouldn't work with a new software revision-- but there has been some speculation that they are incompatible here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=382815

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...96&postcount=4 The post you linked to was an older version of the JB3 (1.3) so can't speculate on that but its always best to keep updated as there have been huge advances since 1.3, 1.4 and now 2.0 Mike |

Getting my 2nd HPFP replacement at 37k KM and they already updated the DME. They called me saying the software update did not fix the HPFP problem. So now im waiting for the new revised HPFP ending in "943" that has yet to arrive for me to test the new software to see if it lags or not.

had my hpfp replaced and 37.1 installed. The car actually feels a bit quicker and more responsive... And the cool thing is when your tire pressure is low an image comes up that shows you exactly what tire it is !!

I just got my HPFP replaced, and then 37.1 or what I believe to be is, I had Dinan stage 2 tune on the car, and today, maybe its the rain, the car felt a lot slower then what it was. I hope BMW didn't change my car to worthless. I bought the 335 to stay up with m3s, not lose to 128s.
