Sqeaky brakes?

My car has less then 100miles on it but the rear brakes are sqeaky as hell. Is that normal?

My rear left brake squeaks after having come to a stop, releasing the brake and beginning to move.

I took it in, and they wound up replacing the rotor and brake assembly!

Everything was fine for three days. It's doing the same thing again, which is surprising since I got a brand new rotor. (Not sanded or turned.)

I'll be taking it in in the next couple weeks to let them have another shot at it.

My 325i brakes are noisy and ABRUPT at VERY LOW SPEED specially when cold.

I don't care! They transmit to me such a superb feeling of power and control.

Nothing will happen if u take it back in. Its the brake sensors rubbing on brake dust that make it squeak. I was talking to a master techinitian, and there is nothing we can do about it. only thing is to use different brakes, non-bmw ones that we will have to pay for. Since bmw started its free maintenance program, around 2 years ago they started using a brake sensor. It shows them accurately how many miles u have on your brake pads, instead of just changing them alittle shy of a few thousand miles. It saves bmw tons of money, but produces a disgusting, construction van pulling up squeak. Its was alot worse on the 5,6,7 models, but they fixed it. The 3 series is fine, but what happens is that the sensor is really close to the rotor, so when brake dust builds up, it adds another millimeter of a layer, causing it to squeak at low speeds, and be careful as u wash the brake dust. If you use too much of a high power wash, you may wash off the brake grease, and cause an even louder squeel! Sucks, yes it does, but nothing we can do about it I tried slamming on my brakes really hard in hopes of the sensor braking haha.

I would wait it out a few. It might be new films on the rotors, pads, etc.. I seem to recall noticing that when I first got it, and it went away..

Don't agee with the dust theory. Mi 325i brakes abruptly and squeaky at very low speeds from km. 0.

May be it was something that the SOFT STOP function was meant to deal with, but it seems that S stop is now absent, maybe due to the many queries it got.

But the 325i brakes are SUPERB, apart this little inconvenience.

I've noticed a little squeak. But I was going to change my brakes to a low-dust brake pad for different reasons.

I was under the impression that the low-dust pads have more of a tendancy to squeak than traditional pads.

It's your caliper sticking. they need to take extra care to lube the caliper slides. That's what I've done to my own, and many other squeaky E90's.

I don't know where you met this "master technician", but He's giving you false information, or you're relaying it inaccurately.

For starters:
BMW has been using brake wear sensors for a LOT longer than 2 years. They were on my E30, which was model year 1986, and that WASN'T the first model they were used on.

Secondly, there sure as hell IS something you can do about it. If your brakes are squeaking because the sensor is rubbing the rotor, we replace your pads, sensor, and the rotor if it's worn enough. I do it all day, bud.

The only time you get the bill for getting rid of brake squeak is when you drive hard, and overheat your rotors. they take on a blue-ish tint. Once that happens, if you complain about a brake squeak, and the sensors are not rubbing, you can buy your own brakes until the one's on the car are worn out. We'll replace them for wear, but not for abuse.

Bed in the brakes. May help, may make it worse. But still something you should do.

I have 14000 kms. I complained about the squkey brakes to the dealership. I booked an appointment to have them look at it. Will this be covered by the warranty....if they clean or grease the brakes?

I have 2,610 miles on my 06 330 and my brakes have started that squeaking noise, but only at low speeds in slow stop and go traffic. Now the weather hear in Detroit has just dropped below freezing, so perhaps that has something to do with the noise. Otherwise braking performance is good, but that squeak is very annoying. Perhaps over the holidays, I may drop into the dealer for a Q&A.

ahh i think that happens to us all
but i thinks matt is right, its more so bcuz of the "abuse" we do to the rotors, not soo much wear, for the e90s arnt even that old yet
sux, i wish i could just get brembo kit and replace the problem, but unfortunatley that replacement is kinda pricey... near 4 G's pricey
