Warning Light on Delivery Day

Took delivery of my 335 Coupe today ! Unfortunately, it was a typical November day - cold and rainy and I didn't get to take in the exterior lines, paint, etc as long or thoroughly as I would have liked.

Driving around this evening a warning lamp came on indicating "exterior bulb failure" according to the manual. All lights seem to functioning fine - running lights, directions, high and low-beam, brakes, etc.

Anyone seen this before ?

After servicing the mechanic left my rear window a crack open, and the computer showed the warning triangle without any other notice. Mechanic opened and closed all my windows, and the warning triangle never appeared anymore. The computer sometimes glitches for the weirdest reasons. If the warning does not reappear, the computer rectifed itself.

Greg,

That's the one light I didn't check ! I'll look at it agin if the indicator comes back on - that would make sense too if they plates were put on today, it may have jarred something loose.

Love that 6.9 - please post a photo sometime.

Great car - who did the re-upholstering work ? My dad had one of these back in '79 and prior to that had the 300SEL 6.3 - true autobahn bombers. That's when I learned to drive - fast !

I've had this warning light come on a few times, only to go out after a little bit of driving. I have checked and I can't locate any lights being out. :-(

I can relate to that precisely I had the interior totally reupholstered around 3...maybe 4 years ago by a place here in Toronto called Tack Upholstery, took about 5 weeks to get it done. Everything was changed except the headliner, and the plastic trim pieces were repaired (if necessary) and dyed a new colour. Recently however the A/C condenser sprung a leak which I will have to address next spring before it gets hot, other than that all thats pending is a repaint and re-chroming/polish. Engine was crated up and sent to Germany around 11 years ago for repairs, nobody here in North America was qualified to touch it. So now it still runs perfectly, no shuddering, idles at a smooth 600rpm when warmed up. The only thing other than fuel consumption that kills me is oil, 13L of synthetic isn't cheap

Edit: Here is the link to the place I contracted to do the work: http://www.tackupholstery.com/

this happened to me the first day I picked up my car while going over bumps. It went off right away and never came back. I asked the dealer and he said the sensors are too sensitive sometimes and that it happens on his older 5 series as well.

A few days ago I got the snowflake warning too. I didnt know what it meant since I couldnt find that warning symbol in the manual. I dont recall it being 37 degrees that day at all.

To date these are the warnings i have gotten (1 month since picking it up)
1) Exterior Bulb failure
2) Bluetooth malfunction. My roadside assistance and bluetooth phone didnt work until I turned the car off and back on
3) Snowflake warning.

Within the first couple of days my car showed the round "gear" indicator which the manual identifies as an issue with the automatic transmission. The only problem is I don't have an Automatic

Nevertheless, it was one occurance on the first or second day of driving the car and has never come back so I am attributing it to a grimlin.

The snowflake is another story, it's not in the manual and I'm not really sure why the car needs to tell me it's cold outside.

Oh man, I used to get these on my e36 all the time. I hope this isn't a rehash of the "brake light circuit" failure gremlin for the e9x.

Warning light has not come back on on this my second day with the car, so I haven't had to jump out and check on the lisence plate.

Drove down to Providence today and found it very tough to stay below 90. What a car - I am guessing the finest car I've ever driven. Can't tell you how pleased I am with my decisions in this on - especially going with Manual transmission.

One thing I did notice today however is the battery life on my Treo 650 when connected via Bluetooth. Battery seems to be cut in half as a result and it ran out early this evening. I've never had the battery die n one day regardless of how much I've used it. Has anyone else seen this ?

Perhaps Bruno the Boxer can wave to Nora the Irish Terrier if we cross paths.

I assume that Blluetooth is only active during talk time - if so, its draining the battery VERY quickly as I had only an hour and a half of talk before it quit. OUCH - time for another power cord.

It might also be transferring the phonebook and whatnot.

Bluetooth remains on on the phone unit until you turn it off. If you have the iDrive you will get a small antenna icon whenever the phone and car are 'talkeing' to each other.

I get about a day and a half of battery life when I don't use the car and the bluetooth is still on. I also have the cradle in the armrest that charges the phone when I'm driving; one of the main reasons I paid for the cradle and adapter. Besides, I hate cords snaking everywhere in the car.
